let's try to compile a list of coins which base their genesis start balances on bitcoin balances of a specific date and use bitcoin addresses & signing.

it is a nice thing harvesting old private-keys and getting some value out of balances from back then Smiley

please no coins which require some forum registration or other complicated means.

BITCOIN CASH (BCH)
addresses with balance on AUG 1st 2017 got credited their balance on the new BCH network, private keys can be used in the new network

BITCORE (BTX)
addresses with balance on Bitcoin block 463604 Apr 26 14:23:08 2017 get credited their balance on the new BTX network when signing a message here https://bitcore.cc/claim.php (until november) , private keys can be used in the new network

do you know any other coins with such a type of airdrop by taking a snapshot of the bitcoin main net ?

Byteball will make snapshot at November 4. You have to install their wallet, then prove ownership of bitcoin wallet by message or by sending a small transaction. You can find full rules here: https://byteroll.com/airdrop

Stellar Lumens is also another airdrop. They already made two big distributions, one just recently. I'm not sure when the next one will be, but they will usually announce it on the website with instructions. Here is a post with more info on the last one: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1982657.0

BitCore is strange, never heard til now. Don't think I had anything outside of exchanges in April.

Stellar lumens distribution is strange and unfair. For lumens that are not claimed by bitcoin users at large the foundation gets to keep it, and they expect every bitcoin holder in the world to claim it to not have any left for the foundation in each airdrop.

Their snapshot is also recorded too early each time and requires Facebook authentication.

PS: I hold stellar lumens and they really need to get hold of themselves in the face of so many new blockchain competitors. These guys were really the early starters in this race and had a noble idea of connecting the needy and unbanked. So please please get back into the race.

Didn't know about BITCORE (BTX). Will take a look and see if it is safe to give up keys to them.

You get
- 0.00625 GB for each BTC you link, that's 1.7USD for 4000USD.

And extras if you already have bytes you get 10% more (out of your existing bytes), and another 20% of blackbytes.
- For the bytes you hold on September 6 you receive 0.1 new byte for each 1 byte of your balance
- You also receive 0.21111 blackbytes for each 1 byte

So the ROI is maybe 0.05% per month (0.0425 if you don't count the extras) these days. The ROI earlier this year was 10x more as you could get 0.5% per month, giving you 0.5% per month (if you assume the USD price for byteball and bitcoins were the same as today, at least the difference were the same between the two coins)

same is recommended as with bitcoin cash(BCH).
move BTC to a fresh wallet and after that sign the message.

but bitcore was easier, since i already moved my coins due to bitcoin-cash(BCH).

so i was just digging out my old now-empty private key that had balance in april and signed the "BTX" message and had BTX-bitcore-coins sent to the address i specified.

1 BTX is ~5$ right now and climbing. https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcore/ also they pay interest of some 3% until november for early holders.

no mention of this site yet - https://airdropalert.com/

some of them look like far more trouble than they're worth but there are some good ones.

If you are searching for an steadily updated list of airdrops for Bitcoin holders you should have a look the following website:

-> https://airdrops.io/bitcoin-holders/

They list BTC holder airdrops and also upcoming Bitcoin forks. You can also filter for holder airdrops on other chains.

Don't trust any exchange!
