GPU (1080Ti) <> PSU pin question

Hello,

Noob question here. Hopefully, it won't cause you nose bleeding or death.

I would like to power 2 x Nvidia 1080 Ti on eVGA 750 P2 power supply.

The 1080 Ti come with 8+8 pins
The eVGA 750 P2 comes with two (6+2)+6 and two (6+2) cables.

Questions
1) is it okay to use only one 8+6 cable onto the 8+8 pin ? (some people seem to run 8+8 1080Ti from a single 8 stating it's fine without causing damages  )
2) if not, can I use a 6pin to 8pin adapter with the 8+6 cable to make it 8+8 ? (I saw such adapter selling at Amazon)
3) or should I use two cables to feed the card : one 8+6 which I'll only connect with its 8 plug (and forget about the 6 plug) to the card, then another cable, 8 this time, to connect to the second 8pin of the card ? will that create over load and is wrong ?

You should be able to power two 1080tis with your 750W PSU, especially if you lower the power limit in something like Afterburner so that the cards are using less than the stock maximum TDP (around 250 watts each).

That psu has four pcie cables .

Each cable has at least one eight pin pcie.

If you use the eight pin from each cable it will work.

If you manage to get it to work any other way I would be Impressed.

Hint it can be done with three cables .

Just connect the 8pin cables that are available in any order. It'll work.

You need to have a 8 pin cable in each 8 pin on the card (my cards won't turn on with just one).

The problem comes when trying to connect more GPU's to a PSU with only four 8 pin connections.

I've been using cables like this for awhile now and it works great:

Basically you have 4 eight pin cables and the cards require 4 eight ping cables so what  exactly is the problem just connect them and run the cards
Anyways U can use those 6 pin cables too as the +2 cables are ground cables and a +2 can be easily modded on a six pin connector, if you know what you are doing and if you know that the slot on the psu can handle that extra current .
I am running my amp extreme 1070 and gigabyte aurous 1080 ti off 8+6 cables ,Which I modded my self too 8+[6+2] , as my psu came with some 8+8 modules and some 8+6 modules

Hey, I connected a rx 480 to a PCI slot. Not pcie. It smoked! Now my card is not recognized. I've tried in different pc's. Is there a fuse or capacitor that might have blown on the cards board?
