Hello,

I'm kind of new to BitCoins. I haven't played with it in a year or so now and I was wondering about how much BTC you get at certain speeds. Say if you run a miner at 800 MH/s verses 5 GH/s etc.

I'm curious what your usual BTC gain per day is at certain speeds?

Thanks
vajje

There is variation. You can "guess" that you would get x amount multiplied by however high your hash rate is, but that is not always true.

Different pools will give different amounts. Even the same pool over an hour or two can fluctuate, depending on whether they are finding blocks and how many it is.

You really can't estimate how much you'll get, as basically every block is like the lottery. You could be hashing solo at only 100 MH/s and hit 500 blocks in a row, or you could be hashing in a pool at 80 TH/s and hit 0 blocks. By increasing your hash rate all you are really doing is increasing the # of lottery tickets you have.

There are a number of websites that will estimate earnings for you. This one here is a very basic one. You also really have to take into account variance, pool fees, growth in network hashing power (i.e. rise in difficulty), etc. Search Google for "bitcoin mining calculators" and you should find a lot more.

I like this calculator which also takes into account hardware investment, electricity consumption to help you compare expenses vs. profit.
