Ellaism

Ellaism is an Ethereum-like network. Features include:

  • No pre-mine.
  • No contentious hard forks. Stability is a feature.
  • Monetary policy. A reduction of 20% mining rewards happens every 10 million blocks.
  • No difficulty bomb.
  • Replay protection enabled by default.

There is no premine and the coin is totally community-driven. Please see https://github.com/ellaism/meta for ways you can get involved in Ellaism.

Clients (Full Nodes)

Installation

Install Parity from Parity's official website (https://github.com/paritytech/parity/releases). When installing on Windows, close the Parity application in the system tray. Download the Ellaism config file (https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ellaism/parity-config/master/ellaism.json). Run Parity, and pass the "--author" argument if you want to start mining. On Linux
Code:
parity --author walletaddress --chain "/path/to/ellaism.json"
If you're on Windows, that would be
Code:
parity --author walletaddress --chain "X:\path\to\ellaism.json"

Now you can go to http://127.0.0.1:8180 for address setup and client monitoring.

Mining

With a Parity client running, you can use any ethash miner (such as ethminer https://github.com/ethereum-mining/ethminer) to mine Ellasim. To mine using your GPU, run "ethminer -G -F http://localhost:8545".

You can optionally use Parity's Stratum support. To do this, start Parity with
Code:
parity --author walletaddress --chain "ellaism.json path as above" --stratum
In ethminer, run with parameter
Code:
ethminer -S 127.0.0.1:8008

Exchanges

Pools

Please try solo mining first! At this stage, it's more profitable and helps the network decentralization. If solo mining is not an option, you can use the mining pools below. Help is appreciated to keep the Dev Mining Pool (https://pool.ellaism.org) running. This pool doesn't need to compete with other commercial pools in terms of hashrates, but it needs a little of it to keeps several infrastructures on Ellaism, like the BTC Relay fetchd script, running.

Basic Information

  • Coin generation: 5 Ella per block with 20% reward reduction happens every 10 million blocks. Block time is 10 seconds.
  • Network ID and chain ID is 0x40.
  • Most other parameters are the same as Ethereum.

Total Supply

Below you will find an analysis of the total supply. The coin unit "Ella" is equivalent to "ETH" in Ethereum. The total supply will not exceed 280 million Ella. On 2027/09/15, around 50% (139 million Ella) will be mined, and on 2050/07/20, around 90% (250 million Ella) will be mined.

JSON RPC Endpoint

If you are a dapp developer, you can use "https://jsonrpc.ellaism.org" as a JSON RPC endpoint.

Web Wallet

Update: we also have a fork of MyEtherWallet that allows you to directly access Ellaism nodes: https://ellaism.github.io/ellawallet/

With the above JSON RPC Endpoint, you can use myetherwallet as a the lightweight web wallet if you cannot afford to run a Parity full node.

1. Go to https://www.myetherwallet.com and please hand type this address. Double check the address again because there's a lot of phishing attacks for this website.
2. In the top right "Network" selection, choose "Add Custom Node" in the dropdown menu.
3. Enter "Ellaism" as the node name.
4. Enter "https://jsonrpc.ellaism.org" as URL. Leave Port empty.
5. Select "Custom", and tick "Supports EIP-155", enter "64" as the chain ID.
6. Click "Save & Use Custom Node".

Now you can use myetherwallet for Ellaism. Please refer to myetherwallet's help documents for how to send transactions.

MetaMask

You can also use the MetaMask browser plugin on Ellaism. This plugin allows you to directly interact with many Ethereum dapps on the network. To do this:

1. Download MetaMask (http://metamask.io/) from the official website.
2. After installation, click the MetaMask icon, and choose (in the top left corner of the pop up) network selection.
3. Choose "Custom RPC" and Enter "https://jsonrpc.ellaism.org". Click "Save".

Now you can use dapps directly. For example, try out Token Factory (https://tokenfactory.surge.sh) which allows you to create a new token under minutes.

ENS

The ENS (Ellaism Name System) deployed in the Ellaism blockchain allows you to register .ella ENS names. Go to http://ens.ellaism.org/ for more information.

BTC Relay

The BTC Relay allows Bitcoin transactions to be validated on the Ellaism network. This makes BTC-ELLA swap and ELLA-BTC decentralized exchange possible. We currently need relayers to support it.

Technical Information

This is an Ethereum network as specified in the yellow paper (https://ethereum.github.io/yellowpaper/paper.pdf), with Homestead (https://github.com/ethereum/EIPs/blob/master/EIPS/eip-2.md), EIP150 (https://github.com/ethereum/eips/issues/150), EIP155 (https://github.com/ethereum/eips/issues/155), EIP160 (https://github.com/ethereum/eips/issues/160) and ECIP1017 (https://github.com/ethereumproject/ECIPs/blob/master/ECIPs/ECIP-1017.md) applied from block 0. The era for ECIP1017 is changed to 10 million. Chain id and network id are both 0x40. Difficulty bomb is diffused from block 0.

Genesis block contains 0 coins (hence no premine). The initial difficulty in genesis block is changed to "0x40000000", its extra data field is "0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000", and its initial nonce is "0x0000000000000040".

all the projects certainly have a lot of details that should be submitted to users of crytocurrency, and the website is a lot of help, but I hope this project provides complete detail on this next thread, hopefully runs very well, and good luck

I was an developer that got tired of the debate of DAO hard fork, and recently CAHF (http://www.cahf.co/). Instead of a coin that is controlled by a few devs, I want a coin that is entirely driven by the community. It also must not have any pre-mine, giving it a good foundation from the beginning. Thus Ellaism.

Ellaism will share as many code as possible in Ethereum, like Litecoin to Bitcoin.

Bit of a learning curve, however I managed to get this mining on an old Windows PC and am finding coin (which is being shown in the Parity Web GUI).

Thanks for creating the coin with no premine Mr Dev Smiley

Okay, i have setup the wallet on one of my notebooks and its open for network mining now. One of my miners is on ellaism now. Ethminer shows no errors but the wallet shows some rejects. Some Blocks are okay. Is it normal? This is the first time i see parity.

Hi, if the log message says "Reorg to #{block_number} ...", that is normal. It is due to a block you mined failing to get to the longest chain. Otherwise, please post the error message here or to Github (https://github.com/ellaism/parity-config/issues).

Hi. Any plan for exchange?

Unfortunately, no.

I ignore the error message. Most is OK. Miner shows from time to time a submit error, but thats not a problem. What is your plan for this project now?

When the network stabilize, the website, community, wallets and other necessary important pieces of this coin will be set up. The current Ethereum network (as Ellaism) works well for many dapps, so I don't expect any continent hard forks unless the community agrees.

I would expect Ellaism to be a stable ground for others to build dapps on top of it. Codes don't constantly break due to hard forks. In addition, many features, like CarbonVote, would function better on a network without premine.

Remove the parity from tray. Is the Author address ETH address?

"Starting it

You'll probably want to set the destination address (where the rewards go). If you have an address already, great. If you don't, then you can make one in Parity with:

parity account new
You'll be asked for a password and be given an address. Once done, you should run parity and tell it to mine to that address when required. Supposing your address is 0037a6b811ffeb6e072da21179d11b1406371c63, then you would run:

parity --author 0037a6b811ffeb6e072da21179d11b1406371c63
Once Parity is running and synced with the network, you can start your miner of choice. For genoil, command would be:

ethminer -G
Where -G for GPU mining (opencl)"

In general, you can use any ethereum-based address.

Yeah but I don't get it, what is the point of creating this clone?  It doesn't seem to bring enough to the table to be worth a whole seperate coin.
