Local wallets are of course the safest way to store your coins.

Both serve specific purposes however.

I store long term coins locally and hold a few online wallets for shorter term holds (less than a month or two typically).

Local wallets seem to be good for some long term operations, while online wallets are convenient for daily use, for instance
I am using both, and its quite handy

A local wallet is way more secure then an online wallet when done right.
Most of my coins are in a local wallet & I wouldn't have it any other way.

The question from you I will answer, that is if looking from the side of security or hacker attacks that make some pishing treatment to minimize better local wallet, but using online wallet is also safe, you must create a bookmark in your browser, all depends on ourselves

If you do hold up lots of coins then local wallet would be suggested but there are still some online wallet which are good too since you can able to get its p.key which is good as long you do have it you do have always the access into your coins.Never ever store huge amounts on those wallets that you don't have its key.As most people suggested here local wallet is always been good. There are respective wallets of a certain coin depending on which platform that they are using.

I just use my local wallets for every coin, that supports it. I think online wallet are not secure enough and you even dont know who is behind the running server of this online wallet! If they are going to exit scam or they are going to get hacked, you maybe loose all your coins and investments.
If you use a local wallet, you should watch out for the security in your own network!

Online wallets are risky especially for altcoins. if it bitcoins then we have well reputed bitcoins online wallet, but for altcoins, we don't have that much safe wallets. So better go with local wallets. I use altcoins to do trading and gambling, so I will not keep my altcoins in any wallets I will keep it in exchange site or gambling site. Suppose if I want to withdraw I will convert it into bitcoins. And will save bitcoins.

I am always trying to use local wallets. They are not so convenient in usage but secure. If there is no local wallets for certain coin I'm trying to find the online one, but it should provide private key, for sure!

Storing coins for a long time is usually done in a local wallet. Some wallets give people a reward when they store coins in their wallet, they have a distribution system where most people receive the coins as long as their wallet is open as well.
Bitcoin wallets doesn’t really feature that though if you look at it you could make more interest on Bitcoin if the altcoin being held is not decreasing its value and with those extra stakes the coins could get sold for an increased amount of Bitcoin.
It’s dangerous yet I’ve done that sort of thing before.

I think you can use both of them, if you want to hold some coins for a long time, of course, it is better to store them on the local wallet, also, you can store some coins on the website wallet for more transfer convenient.

Can you give an example about the local wallet and did you mean the dekstop wallet? Online wallet is holding by the 3rd person and if you try to save your coin in there and it seems you are giving your coin to the another person. Local wallet was better

I have an online wallet that I use for the flood of tokens (I dont store much coins there) and I have a local wallet! I feel safer with my onlinewallet, because I know where my coins are stored! In an onlinewallet you dont know who is the owner of the whole network. So watch out, what wallet you use. Wink

If you are hot blooded trader and aggressively buy/sell coins frequently then exchange wallets are sophisticated or you will loose huge portion on fees.
Alternatively if you are cold blooded trader and hodl coins for long, it would be better to save coins on Desktop wallet with master seed backup. Who knows exchange on whicn you stored coins disappear one day or close your account without notice.
