Hello Friends

I see lately many people are option to use HP Server Power Supply too

Is it safe and secure?
How would you connect your 6 GPU and Motherboard to it. I understand there is some connector. But how would you connect Motherboard to it.

Anyone using it here.

Please share best model for 1200W - Platinum

Thanks for your guidance.

i read from somewhere that you use 1 normal psu for your motherboard sata etc.
and the special server psu just for the gpu power. however you need to turn on the server psu first before starting up.
this is because the server psu is on as soon as you turn it on. the normal psu will only turn on when you press the switch on the motherboard.

Hello,

Here is a link for the 2400w 94% Platinum kit from Parallel Miner.  I am using these on my 8x GTX 1080 Ti rigs now and there is plenty of room on the breakout boards to add more cards.  I use the ultimate 2400w kit ($159) + ATX adapter ($34).  Using this adapter you eliminate the need for a 2nd power supply and 160w is plently.  On my rigs, this adapter powers the motherboard ATX slot, CPU power slot and an SSD drive and doesn't draw more than 40w from the wall.  Here is a link to order -

Are they providing 18 AWG Cable?

For 1200W.. they seem to not have it.

I am looking to buy from somewhere else..

What items would i need to connect Motherboard to this connector ?

You would need to 160w or 180w ATX adapter and that powers the motherboard, CPU and SSD.

They are of good quality and they are only $35 - so you could always order one and do some testing.  The support from Parallel Miner is pretty amazing.  Check out the discussions tab - I have worked with Joseph in the past.  He is very responsive and will generally respond via an email or phone call within a few hours of your request.

Get a "160w pico psu" and get a custom cable made that connects to a 6pin pcie cable then to whatever other cables you need. Personally i got one made for a 6pin to 8pinEPS with a 16awg pigtail which i connected to the pico psu. Runs my mobo, cpu, ssd and some fans without any problems at all.

It all depends how much power you need to draw and also whether you want to put two rigs on one supply and risk two rigs going down if the psu craps out. Personally one psu per rig for me (then again i have only one lol)

guys its called a pico psu which accepts only 12v which is supplied by the server psu, pico powers both mobo and a hdd/sdd.
ive got 2 full rigs of 6 gpus each with this setup, its nice and clean less wires going all over the place etc, soon to be 3 rigs
I use hp 1200w and 1500w platinum rated server psu's and yes its safe and secure, these psu's are little better and there made for enviroments such as we are using them in, they will last much longer than then atx psu counterparts, downside is these mostly all run on 220v only to get the full wattage

flminer mods picos to power from the 6 pin off of a breakout board, and will soon be offering pcie cables: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2040729.msg20310280#msg20310280

I try to snipe used/refurb on ebay/amazon but have been burnt by sellers on ebay (with good feedback) so be careful and always use paypal! Just make sure it is a cs (common slot) and pay attention to efficiency (I look for platinum). I try to find 1200's for $30, 1500's $100 (parallel miner's 2400w is a better deal than the 1500).

For breakout boards, I like the v7 x-adapter: http://www.parallelminer.com/product/x7-breakout-board-adapter-compatible-with-hp-750w-1200w1500watt-hp-power-supply/

There's 2 versions of DPS1200. One is DPS 1200 FB A, another is DPS 1200 FB-1-A.

You want the 1-A because it's platinum efficiency. The normal FB A version is just gold.

I just bought a set of the hp server psu, but the pico psu only has 4 pin cpu connector. Waiting for 4pin to 8pin cpu converter to arrive and will test it.
