Recognizing large-scale manipulative FUD? - Tactics to combat it?

Given that governments and established monetary systems all are inherently threatened by cryptocurrency, it stands to reason that such powerful entities would use FUD as an attempt to retain control.

All the rumors swirling around China's ban of ICOs and other regulatory speculation offer a prime recent example of possible malicious manipulation.

My question is twofold; How can we, if at all, spot signs of this?

And,

What tactics or tools do we have in combating such a large opposition?

Why get worked up about it? Let nature take its course and the wrinkles will be worked out. It's too powerful for it ever to go away. The best thing anyone can do is carry on with business as usual.

Tactics to combat it - HODL.

Seriously, they can't create maximum damage to manipulate the price if people have strong hands & refuse to panic sell. We've seen tactics like the one's China employ all too regularly. The weak hands are embarrassing tbh & don't deserve to get rich.

That makes a ton of sense. Stupid people will always be stupid people, but how do we promote this good sense to the broader public?
