Power consumption isn't much of an issue anymore. ASICS are much more energy efficient.
So efficient you can power them with a sub-rooftop sized solar array. One panel is about a million times easier to deal with than the system a GPU farm would have required. You can make the electricity required to run your hardware a sunk cost just like the ASIC. Pure profit from that day on out. If it costs $1 of electricity to mine $100 worth of bitcoins, it's a waste of effort. Very inefficient management of your money/time..

I am really excited to hear of this price drop! Is anyone here who is buying 50 willing to sell me one at or near cost? I was holding out and saving for one of these.. But At the old prices couldn't justify it. When I save up enough or someone wants to give me a 1 BTC loan I'd love to have one. I'm about 1/10 saved up to 1 BTC at the moment.

Are you sure about that? Yes because your rooftop solar array would cost more than $1, so it's cheaper to just pay for the electricity. Unless you already have the solar array and is not using it for something else...

He charges a mark up. I think laughingbear (me including) is more interested in getting them from the source for .99 BTC

I guess the PT share of AM in BTCT or BF are not qualified for the "shipping first" policy? Just direct shares.

For $2.82 per device you get expedient service and peace of mind knowing that you will get everything as expected. If you are ordering over 30 units you get FedEx next day shipping included. No matter what you say, this an excellent service. But we all know you do have a bone to grind with me. So coinhoarder, I encourage you to handle your own orders and I'll continue distributing ASICMiner/friedcat's product. See my signature. Thanks

I'd just rather buy from the source with no mark up. Your "expedient service" and "peace of mind" don't quite match the expedient service I could give to myself (cut out the middle man). No "peace of mind" required either because there is no 3rd party. Only me ordering from Friedcat. This is not about you Canary... these things have a slim chance to make ROI in 2 years as is, no need to add extra expenses.

This isn't fair for Canadians. I want to order 1000 USBS. However, I want to take advantage of my previous 50BTC order so that I can get 50BTC off, but WTCR in Canada won't be able to honor this. It now seems that Friedcat is screening out Canadian emails as he hasn't replied to me for quite awhile now, as he probably wants me to deal directly with WTCR. Bullshit.
WTCR is capable of getting 1000+ units for you. I wouldn't worry about that!

The rational part of me thinks that people will be less likely to buy these because AM keeps undercutting itself and making it harder to profit off these things. The irrational part of me concludes people won't give a damn and will buy them because.... "ZOMG ITS A CUTE LITTLE ASICCCCCCC AT 50% OFF!!!!"

I was going to buy a bunch of them (a few thousand) but did not for this very reason. The OP may know something about producing an ASIC but the OP and his advisors know nothing about marketing and selling product. I suggested using distributors months ago and they've only now come to see the value fo that tried and true model.
Their pricing makes them a non-competitive product and their price dropping makes them a horrible potential partner.
They should, like most manufacturers, set a single unit MSRP (price) and then offer serious discounts for volume purchases (on the order of 30%+). The first company to adopt that distribution model will gain immediate market share.
Hogs get fat but pigs get slaughtered.

I was reselling them in EU. That means now I can't do that and I'm not going to be capable of reaching the 1,000 mark? Seems not fair
