So I have been "mining" on Nice Hash using my gaming PC. Currently its a i7 4790k with a 780 ti, 16GB ram and a 650w PSU. I only get $1 a day but i have been getting the itch to get into mining more. So I ask you... What GPU should I add to the system? Would my PSU be powerful enough to just add another card? I think there are 2 ways I can go, a cheap AMD card used just for mining, or a more expensive card (an upgrade from the 780 ti) which I could also benefit from the gaming side of things which I would prefer. Im interested in mining BTC Gold, random ICO's and alts and hopefully holding until they are worth something. Thank you for your time  |

I am not sure that you can reach ROI for buying new GPU's .
Difficulty is rising and ETH POS is on the way. So think twice before buying new GPU's

Thanks for the reply and words of warning. Im not too bothered about ROI because I believe in the future the small amount I would be getting now will be worth much more and also if I upgrade the current GPU it will benefit me in other ways than just mining. Them sweet FPS :0 Also what about BTC Gold, I know we dont know nothing about it now but im thinking that could be the new ETH when it comes to GPU mining profitability, if its not then I would try my hand at other coins and hope for the best. |

In your situation I would go with Nvidia. Nvidia is great for mining several altcoints at the moment which combined with nicehash should give you a little better profit. I believe your PSU should be enough for adding another card. My recommendation is 1070 but if you have a lot of money you can consider 1080ti as well. If you are concerned about PSU better chose 1070 because 1080ti draws much more power.

Thank you for your time If you will go for profit then you have to do study, you had already started your mining journey and have an idea on your power usage, so check your power rates, and estimate what if's, if difficulty rises profit will decline how will you cope with it? then decide your GPU if you want longer ROI but high resale value or the other one. you may always check online calculators to help you decide |

Thank you for the reply  Very helpful stuff, I will check out the 1070 as I dont really want to get a new PSU also. I was looking at the AMD Vega but not sure when it comes to mining.... im a noob  |

Yes, getting interested in mining has actually made me switch electricity providers because my last one was really high per KWh  So even if I dont make profit at least my living expenses are a bit lower haha. |

Regarding Eth and POS drama , even if it goes POS GPU mining will still remain profitable , It has always been profitable unless you pay really high electricity cost or your rig stops working Anyways , the really deal is investing and trading in different altcoins. In my opnion get a GPU mine some coins and learn to trade . Its not always gonna be profit but in the long run it usually is . Just speaking from my experience , Peoples opinons vary |

Just speaking from my experience , Peoples opinons vary I feel you man, im currently invested in 20ish altcoins and hoping for the best. I use NiceHash to earn me a little when im afk, so far I have earned around 0.002 which is nice (just 500 more of them to go) I took a break from crypto for a bit and use to trade so currently im trying to catch up on what I have missed. I stupidly left funds in exchanges, I think at the time maybe they were not worth much so I didnt care, of course when I come back the coins are worth decent value and the exchanges are all dead lol.... ahh well . I have learned from it. |
