If you had followed YAC GPU development you would know that no one has come with a long term GPU solution, the solutions found (and not released AFAIK), will just work since August. So ATM YAC is _not_ like everyone else.

I think, perhaps, noone has bothered to put the effort in, to make it GPU mineable, because it's value is so little, what's the point?

GPU mining is already happening. mtrlt, who made reaper, has been mining it for a while, and it's easy to assume others are also. He has no immediate plans on releasing source because he can still make a decent amount with his cards.  Makes sense to me, and you can't really fault the guy for it when he's done the work himself.

Strongest and most stable of all altcoins created in last few weeks. Never went to huge pump just to lose 1500% of it's value, never had a single blockchain problem, proper coin.

Not very profitable to mine at the moment but litecoin and bitcoin were not "making a killing" machines for lot of time in their history, litecoin until very few weeks ago. So if you're for day to day profit mining it, you+re not going to fill your pockets, if you're for a bit longer run, who knows, you maybe might. It's definitely not a copy paste coin like most of others are and if that would be the case to decide it's future it holds a big chance to have a bright one.

I believe you may be thinking about it backwards - This has the possibility to introduce a form of mining to people who don't have dedicated mining farms, or even gaming machines because even a mid range Core i5 laptop has a decent hashrate.  Also, it's currently not competing for hardware resources with other coins, so mine it or don't, you don't have to change focus on your GPUs.

Is this really a problem? ASICM I get, it causes centralization, but how is GPU mining a problem at all?

But that's not how it works...This isn't socialism.

You get what you pay for. If you have shit hardware, don't expect to be racking in cash. You have to make an investment to get rewards

mining isn't pointless, imo I think asics are great and if they take over all mining, that's fine by me as long as the hash rate is divided up nicely for security's sake. The reason why people don't like ASIC mining is because the ONLY way new coins get added to the market is through mining, and ASIC limits who can get new coins. So really, at its root, yacoin's competitor is not bitcoin, it's devcoin. They're both trying to make the new coins more accessible, but the difference is that yacoin does it by placing a limitation that most anyone can meet. However, a coin needs miners to secure the block chain, and miners don't like seeing 90% of their block reward go to someone else.... :-/ It's a good thing devcoin is merge mined. I think they'd have trouble with hashpower otherwise.

In the end, people like things that give them access, and don't like things that give others access to a limited resource. You have to strike a balance without giving stuff away for free.

You mean on my 2 quads that only get 15 khash each? I gave it up because I could not see results unless I went with win 64

I'm not one for telling someone they're doing it wrong on the internet, but unless that's antiquated hardware, you're doing it wrong 

what hardware do you have, and did you download the windows optimized miner that's been posted?  (also available on yacoin.org)

the two piece of hardware I can check right now are as follows:
laptop with a core i5 2410 with N=7 is currently getting 37 kh/sec  (machine circa 2010)
laptop with a core i7 3610 with N=7 is currently getting 80 kh/sec

I don't see how windows 64 makes that big of a difference - I don't think we're at a point where addressing > 4 GB of memory is important yet...

The x64 miner comes with AVX instructions (available since W7 SP1), that's what makes the difference, and a big one.
