I'm trying to determine what is the best (in terms of highest attainable MHash/s ) non-double width card?
What is the thinnest card if you account for the heatsink/fan?
Thanks!

Just of note, for mining those cards are terrible MHash/$. If you are getting them for gaming though, more power to ya.

can you explain why? just currious... the 6850 is $80 more expensive than a normal double slot one. the 6990 is $170 more expensive than a normal one. (though it is a watercooled unit, which is worth something).

Because you're paying more. You could buy more video cards with the extra money thus get more power. You could buy a gold encrusted 6990 for 10k, sure it gets the same performance but the point is you're wasting money.

Great resale value, though.

My question is about technical differences. Is the PowerColor LCS AX6990 capable of same hashing rates as a regular dounle-slot 6990? Are there differences in hashing capabilities?

My guess would be that since it's water cooled, if you have a decent water cooling system you should potentially be able to overclock it further than a regular card, so that could allow for more mhashes. No idea how far it can be overclocked though as I don't have one.

Great resale value, though. I lol'd hard! @Canaryinthemine You may have problems with temperatures on those cards (ok not on the 6990...), that might make you turn the oc down -> less MH/s. Also since you want single slot I assume you only have one slot free i.e. these cards will suffocate even more. the only good solution is a WC loop.

They are NOT single slot. If you get a double and put a water block on it it's still double. You just have less overhead.

The water cooled 6990 linked to in this thread is definitely single slot. If you take a regular double slot card and convert it to water cooling then you're right, but pre-made water cooled cards like the one linked are absolutely single slot, just look at the picture on Newegg.

IMHO to be able to connect watter in/out lets, you need to space them as if it were double-slot cards.

Now that's something I didn't think of. I was just going by the fact that it only uses up one case slot in the picture. You're probably right though.
