I am looking at using either of these parts to connect to a server power supply. I realize a capacitor helps to regulate voltage. Why would each of these parts that have similar function not both have a capacitor. That makes me think that a capacitor is not needed.Could it possibly be due to inductance. But it still does not answer why one has and one does not.

Any input is appreciated:

Risers I am using (with four capacitors): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MU51491/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If i have capacitors on the actual riser. I would think that I would be okay not having them on the breakout board.

If one is recommended over the other i would appreciate any input.

first one the cap  may simply smooth dc ripple effect.

second one  has  more complex  shit to allow for the molex adapter.

last your  risers are able to work with either break out board.

but I would buy from sidehack  as those  two boards look meh  quality wise.

If you are located in Europe I would suggest J4bberwock for breakouts. Quality is great (I have been running 2880 breakouts and cables from him for years)

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=738527.0

EU based buying from USA with carriage and import taxes can get expensive.

Given how many Amps you are running through this I would be very wary of getting cheap no name from ebay.

Hope this helps

Andy
