Dont want to be silly, but as I',m waiting fow few jalapenos.. maybe BFL are mining with customer's hardware, for a while, before shipping !
Anyone have an estimated about how many Avalon batch 2 have been delivered ?  I'm waiting for some of those too..

Last time I checket in Avalon batch #2 thread (yesterday Smiley - 30+ something shipped.

Nice pic.. but I wished they where able to produce that many each day, and even more.. as I read from them, they are supposed to be able to produce thousands of those each day... Sad

I'm about to get tired to wait for the delivery man each day.. I almost stand in from of the window from 10h to noon, each day.  It's the time I usually get package ordered !

I would not necessarily say ASICS are overpriced right now.

ASICS are near-impossible to come by. They are very risky to order. They have tremendous reward potential.  That's why the price is what it is.

Going to be a completely different ball game in even 1 / 2 months  (will Klondike work okay? Bitfury legit? Knc legit? Bfl ship more than .5% of their pre-orders ?)  So many unknowns right now.

They are overpriced.

Big companies are buying all the orders and the tiny trickle that gets to us will never pay itself off at current prices.  That map I posted shows an orange spike in the middle of the US where BFL is located.  Looks like a big middle finger sticking up to me.  Not even trying to hide it by having hosts.  Oh sure everyone will get their machine.  After the difficulty is so high it won't even make a return.

If bitcoin goes up in price you say, "See?  My miner made five times what it was worth in just the first year."

If you paid 49.99BTC for a 10GH ASICminer and get it at the beginning of next month you would still be at -30BTC a year from now at 18% difficulty.  It just will never make back those 49.99BTC that you originally paid.  Better to just buy/hold coins.

Now IF avalon chip shipments start coming in within a couple weeks it's possible to get ROI from those.  It's not likely though.  I'm on the cusp of pushing them back on my chart 2-3 months as it is.

Actually I'm going to do that.

Now you tell me, why would anyone buy a miner at this point?

I just checked the difficulty over the last 10 blocks... 31,000,000!!! You know damn well 2 weeks from now when more asics come online its going to be a hell of a lot higher than 31,000,000. I'm going to predict 42,000,000 next difficulty.

It looks like mining Bitcoins can no longer be just a DIY hobby, heavy investments are needed in ASICs before one can have a chance to become a profitable miner nowadays.

We may get a chance soon in the next round of technology.  At the moment you need a personal connection...

I had to edit the thread title - there is a spike on the sipa.be charts up to 175 Thash!
75 Th jump in 10 days but not showing in any pool. Just 'unknown' portion growing. And numbers incredibly similar to Avalon's promised batch 2+3.

Where did you get the 175TH from?  I'm not seeing that in sipa.

However I am seeing it in my mining return for the last week.  Seems like it halved..

There was a spike up to 175 Th on that chart yesterday. Went from 130 to 155, then for a moment up to 175.
bitcoincharts.com shows it's down to 115 now.
sipa.be is not accesible.

I can't think of much else this hashing-spike could be besides Avalon units.

Does anyone maintain a list with number of many miners/chips are being sent out and when? Thanks!

Edit: there is one here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=216358.0 . Not sure how reliable though - would be glad to see a competing effort.

It may seem a bit conspiratorial but does anybody think this might be a wall street attack on bitcoin??? They certainly have the cash to set up mega farms.

I doubt they are sitting on their hands hoping bitcoin doesn't end their reign.

They don't have to mine on customer's hardware, they could make hundreds times more of their own hardware. But they may also not send miners to customers to keep all the profit for them.
