You can build your own Linux system for cheap and run a masternode. A system for masternode doesn't require high-end hardware. 150-200$ will be more than enough to make it happen.
70$ MOB, 40$ Celeron CPU, 20$ Ram, 30$ 512GB HDD, 50$ PSU.
OR
If there are Universities or Schools nearby, they might be selling their old CPUs for a nick of a dime. That'll do just fine too.

Can you use your mining rig to host a master Node?

Can you use your mining rig to host a master Node?
Well, yes! If it features a good CPU. Let's say high i3 or low i5, 8 GB DDR4 Ram, 512GB and up HDD and an ethernet cable. (Data transmission is much, can't rely on wifi). Run a virtual box software --> Install Ubuntu. Set-up the masternode in your Linux distro. Let masternode update the blockchain and just run it in the background. That's it. Note: Only do it when you're running Windows 10 and you meet all the above requirements. A Virtual box separates the resources that are in need by virtual OS and thus not interfering with mining process in Windows.

I bought a used Dell 2U server with plenty of RAM (64GB) and run pretty much everything on it.
Using KVM hypervisor and over 20 OS instances, most of them are not crypto related.
That's 500$ worth of hardware, no rent, just electricity cost and know how.

It's up to your appetite of how much you want to tinker with the server if you go that route. I like cold and hot setup and use node-vps.com for my needs. They have great customer service.

The DASH tutorials show Vultr, compared to AWS definitely seems to have a bit of a lower price

may i ask why people seems prefer VPS instead of building own small server in the home?
is it due to network connectivity? or unreliable electricity/internet?

Main reason is static IP and home broadband with only 1 dynamic IP, you can get multiple VPS with unique static IP each.

it means if for example i set one IP for DASH, i cant use the same IP for pivx masternode on the same PC?

That's what dynamic DNS services are for.
Also there is no practical limit to how many masternodes you can run on a single public IP address especially since all the masternodes (at least that I had the opportunity to run) do not need to be exposed to the internet at all (ie can be behind NAT, no need for any port forwards).
Again, my example might not be the right one for everyone since I have several servers and do stuff that are not always crypto related but I definitely prefer this type of setup simply because I'm in control over basically everything.

Want to setup my own masternode but don't know any cheap and safe VPS...
I am using Alpharacks for my VPS and PuTTy as my interface. They are based in California. The IP address they assigned me had some kind of issues and I had to submit a ticket. Even though I am based in the US and they are based in the US, I was told that the Chinese Government was banning my IP address. This made no sense and in my response I asked them how this was possible since we are both in the US. Another rep replied and changed my IP. Everything is working now.
I don't really have a problem with them but it took 24 hours to get this resolved and the first reps response was ridiculous.
