Hi folks, would love your input.

We're thinking of doing a Chrome extension that helps blacklist scam websites and ICOs via a community moderated list.

What do you think, worth it?

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Well, based on your current Trust rating and funny activities on this forum, yours might very well be the first (and only) to get on that list.

And besides, not everyone uses Chrome when browsing these sites. I personally use Brave since Chrome can be quite slow.

There is a need of such kind of service, but it should be widespread (not just Chrome Extension) to be helpful. To be widespread you need to spend a lot of money and time. BTW this is the theme of one huge and useful project that can become tokenized through ICO as well))))

I don't personally like chrome extensions, I feel insecure with them...it's a loophole for phishing attacks

But the way you put it, it will be subjective, what of if one Billionaire is part of you list and want Bitcoin to be called a scam and blacklist it has a scam.

There is no way to come up with objective variables to use, what people can do is to be well informed on how to differentiate between good and bad projects

Sounds like a good idea, albeit I don't think it was a good idea to post this with a negative trusted account... Lol. I'd be down with it, if I could scroll through, vote as well, and see whether or not I agree with everything. I'd be super hesitant to use it but I'd like to go somewhere that has a unique system to regulate it to one vote per person (and prevent duplicate accounts). Seems like it would be like Yelp but worse - companies could pay people to vote a certain way, people could sell their votes, or the developers themselves could blackmail the coin into paying them to delete the negative reviews, just like Yelp does. So yeah, I'd be really hesitant.

Let's face it, if there's a coin out there, there's going to be someone calling it a scam. So really this would just be a list of coins with the most disliked being labeled as "scammy".

Guys, the only reason that we had negative feedback is that our previous campaign-manager left negative feedback to Yahoo as a personal vendetta, and the latter left us negative feedback in return.
Anyways, it's all sorted now, thanks for caring.

If the creation of such an extension is really technically possible, it would be very good to have such a list of scammers. It will be a good job. I wholeheartedly support this undertaking. I hope it will be very useful for all users of this forum.

Have you tried about the latest extension has made by ether developers? it looks better for you, But I think that will be difficult to be revealed about the scam project. Just like an authorship project which already determined as the scam project and they are fooling their investors, This needs the more research and can't be done instantly.

Fair enough, I was just making a comment about how that might be something that would put people off from using it. As you can see from my comment above, that was just one aspect from what I might/might not use it.

Otherwise, how would you make it objective? How would you prevent against spambots voting for rival coins to be marked as spam? How would the claims of them being spam be verified? Would there be a built-in forum type thing that allowed people to discuss their interaction with the coin? Would you allow the coin themselves to change their reviews if they pay you (Yelp style)?
Thanks.

I think the first thing is agreeing on the criteria by which a site or ICO can be labelled a scam, also talk to your legal adviser, to see how all of this will work out. Nonetheless, it is a welcome idea.

Well I really liked your idea but chrome extensions aren't safe in my opinion. Some people inject unsafe data into extension so they can hijack your browser. So I don't think that many people would use your extension.
