Worth reflecting on, I suppose, but the piece strikes me as a journalistic cheap trick. In months where BTC is volatile they write a piece about volatility and in months where it is stable they write a piece about stability. Round and round they go.

I remember some of the day traders here saying they loved volatility. This article suggests that everybody loves stability. Shallow stuff.

Regardless, it tempts fate. Volatility coming soon?       Smiley

Exactly.  Those people are hopeless.

I wonder how long before they stop using Mtgox's chart for displaying the history of Bitcoin prices.

Last chart I came across showed Mtgox still over roughly 80% of bitcoin daily trading.

Has anyone start making a blended chart including CampBX and others?

Coinbase for selling BTCs
Fold for spending BTCs
PM me with any questions on these sites/apps!  http://www.montybitcoin.com

or Vircurex for trading alt cryptocurrencies like DOGEs
CoinNinja for exploring the blockchain.

The only thing i've seen is this from Bitcoinity, gives you a good idea of the market evolution, but not a compound exchange rate. I think more work is needed on this.  http://bitcoinity.org/markets/list?currency=ALL&span=30d

The market is stagnant atm...not stable.
Stable would be if there is just as much volume in trading as there was in april w/o the crazy price swings...
Only then and even more volume would it be considered stable.
I suspect the low volume is due to the ever increasing of moving funds between currencies into & out of bitcoin.

Also anyone really worried about volatility in this space either is thinking much too short-term or needs it for operating purposes and there are hedging vehicles available.
