With CPU mining is not actually possible to make a daily profit, but if you still want to mine something, see what will bring you the most coins for you and has some chance of price increases so you can profit from it over time.

Most coins with cryptonight or cryptonight-lite will work ok, Monero, DigitalNote, Bytecoin and Aeon being the most popular. My advice, if you use a laptop just skip it, the wear of the system is not worth the potential profit.

But, I'm also interested in what others think.

Actually very truly said because btc there is no way you can even think about it. Also all the good altcoin their difficult level would be getting higher compared to their starts so mining on CPU is not at all recommended. I am not sure actually you could mine any coin which will yield you nay positive result. Because your electricity cost, maintenance etc will take away all the profit even if earned from that coin.

I merge mine Curecoin/Foldingcoin with a 970.

I use cryptocurrency and solar power to help my best friend Naomi Wu... And I'm proud of it!

i think mine with 1 or 2 gpu is only make your computer breakdown, is not effective... you can doing this just for education purpose only, because the blockchain network is growth up and many people mine with more than 1 or 2 gpu they use gpu rig. so this will make block difficulty increase faster than usually

first indicator is you can see on the social media youtube or other, many people arround the world talk about cryptocurrency... and then you can see they talk about trading and mining
second is, you can see on the network difficultyfor the coin you mine, is always increase every block
