Could you remove the time quota but increase posts req to 25+?
I hate sitting in the newbie section for 3 hours.

Im pretty sure thats what it is, i heard 4 hours of active time and 10 posts but some are saying 5 so im not sure about that quota...

Just checked newbie readme, 5 posts/4 hours

I think the timer is there so people actually have time to read up about bitcoin - it's very easy to spam the forums with 25 posts but to spend 4 hours in the forum you're bound to at least learn something

I've learnt that contests are held alot...

I also learnt that you can use alt currencies to get money...

Then you aren't reading the right posts.

Clearly you created this thread before you even took the time to read the NEWBIE README thread pinned to the top of the Newbie forum.  Have you read through all the threads that are linked in the NEWBIE README yet?  Have you read through satoshi's posts?  How many threads have you read so far in the "Press", "Important Announcements", "Development & Technical Discussion", and "Technical Support" forums?
