Catalonia has been trying to get its freedom through voting in the Catalonia Referendum. This looks very serious as Spain even sent police to stop the vote for independence.

We all know that Barcelona is a club based in Catalonia.

The question is, if Catalonia is granted independence from Spain, should La Liga let them stay in the league or not?

Whatever happens with the world of politics should not affect the world of sport. If Catalonia gained its freedom, Barcelona should remain at La Liga. And if La Liga wanted to take Barcelona out, at least they need time to do so. Barcelona is a big team and gives a bunch of contribution on it.

La Liga should think again about the achievements given by Barcelona. Especially in the last 10 years Barcelona became one of the best in Europe and even in the world. It would be a mistake and big loss if La Liga decide to cross out Barcelona from La Liga.

Right off the bat, whatever the outcome for Catalonia, the question of Barcelona in the La Liga should only have one answer: the one where everybody wins. I want to say politics shouldn't be in football, but it's difficult to ignore 125 years of politics that is so much of the identity of the maroon and blue. Their flags don't bear the Spanish shield, their chants have so much under and overtones.

And let that all remain. Welsh clubs play in the English league. Brunei used to play in the Malaysian league and now in Singapore's, despite softened but tense politics. Catalan clubs will play in La Liga if they are good enough. No question.

Laliga and Barcelona both of them are a part of football history in spain and i personally cannot imagine if Laliga without Barcelona and football should be not to be linked with politic and also football should be independent with all kind of these so i think whatever the results if this i think spain government and Catalonia should be allowed Barcelona still play on Laliga

Its not a matter of staying or not... You need to look above politics and follow the money. Football is a big business. Can you imagine the money Barcelona would lose if they leave the La Liga. No more money from TV rights, no more money from Champions League, no more money from sponsorship... If Barca leaves La Liga that will be the end of Barcelona Football Club. That is the reality... So politics is politics, but shit walks and money talks.

Politics should stay out of sports. Now with political struggles and issues, both spanish football and FC Barcelona face a real problem. La liga will lost many fans and viewers, and barcelona will be affected on both sports level and economic level. This problem should be solved otherwise the map of football would change if Barcelona leaves the spanish league.

La Liga will lose a lot of fans, that's right. Now La Liga Rating is one of the biggest. But the Rating will go down considerably if Barcelona do not play again in La Liga because there is nothing interesting that we can see. So we recommend that Barcelona stay in La Liga if they do not want something bad to happen.

In my opinion yes, I don't think they can afford to lose such team. Too much money is involved(unfortunately it is all about money).
Monaco is a separate country from France and yet they are still allowed to play in the French Ligue 1. I don't think Barcelona will be sanctioned because of this if it ever happens.
True, but Barcelona is not the only one football club from Catalonia.
If they allow them to compete then they should allow all clubs to compete.

Hi everyone )
I think FC Barcelona should and will stay in La Liga because of many reasons.
The first reason it is hard to find league in same power of La Liga if we like or no teams in Spain very strong and we see that  in last 5 years, in champion league [real Madrid(3 times win it), Barcelona(1 time win it), Atletico( 2 times in final) ] in Europe league[ Séville( 3 times win it)].
The second reason it is Real Madrid yes Real Madrid, we all know how much Barca fans hate Real and when they win a Clasico they win a trophy, so how fans of Barca leave La Liga and miss the chance to show the world who the best between them.
The third reason an important one is what level Barcelona will play, I mean if Barca  leave La Liga and found another league does she play in Professional Classification or beginner Classification and if she plays in Professional Classification I'm  sure she will miss play champion league for one year, do you think her fans want or accept that I don't think that.
Finally, The official spokesman for the Blaugrana, Josep Vives says on 13 September 2017"Barcelona do not think of such a scenario, simply, we want to win the Spanish La Liga, and the same applies to the Champions League." and he said too "The club does not talk about the political side, we are not forced to discuss it (politics), but yes about football, how to improve the competition and be more competitive", so it clearly that Barcelona wants to stay in LA Liga.

Exactly. La Liga would be desecrated without derby and without Barcelona it self. If they gain independence I think that Barca will not play in Spanis league. The solution is maybe some kind of economical, sport union. Not just football club but all the other franchise of Catalonial club is important part of Spanish sport history and its future. There was a country that has fallen apart, Yugoslavia. They had one of the strongest league in the Europe. Now, its parts(independent countries) have one of the weakest leagues on the European Continent.

I think Barcelona should stay in La Liga as they are a very important and strong team. Of course politics and football should not mix agendas, but they totally do in so many ways. Probably nothing will change in Spain. But if it does I hope Barcelona can remain in La Liga for that is the reasonable thing to do.

If Catalonia will gain independence from Spain, it is unlikely that Barcelona will play in the Champions League, and especially in the Spanish League.

If they want to be independent, then let them play in their Catalan League. If the players vote for secession from Spain, then how can they then play in the championship of this country ?!

Catalan just declared the independence, I hope La Liga allow Barcelona to stick with La Liga, there are many disadvantages if Barcelona decided to join another league if Barcelona join a French league or EPL they should start from the lowest league, and if Catalan make their own league, it's not competitive and they must wait a couple years to join UCL

No other league in European championships, will not invite Barcelona to play. Do you have any idea what this threatens, for example, the French League 1 from FIFA or UEFA ?! They will play in their own championship of Catalonia and make people laugh.

there are some possibilities Barcelona can join another league and I'm sure they will accept it because it will boost their rating, on other hands, there is FC Andorra it's a football club based in Andorra that plays on Spanish league. I'm sure Barcelona will be accepted in La Liga with the change of sports law and the regulation, and I bet Spanish football federation will keep an eye on it since It's respectively beneficial for La Liga and Barcelona

This whole issue about independence only highlights how in a free world, yet there is modern day slavery, if catalonia wasn't so rich and supporting the Spanish gap would Spain have given a dam. No they wouldn't, so I feel they should dump the spl and come to Barclay's Premier League, that will be absolutely amazing, imagine Messi in England. I also feel they should leave cause the way the people were treated, by the government and police, it was simply horrible. So for me Barcelona should quit the league.

Catalan government has declared independence backed by a minority of votes and that independence hasn’t been recognized by any serious government yet. I think only Maduro, from Venezuela.

Catalan government has been fired and face very serious charges. Most of them will be imprisoned soon.

So, they will stay in la Liga but because they are still in Spain. Had that been otherwise, I would strongly support they were kicked from la Liga. You cannot want to be independent have all the benefits of being attached to Spain.

The problem is when Barcelona decided to join another league(English or French) Barcelona have to start from the lowest tier of their league, and the distance would be a problem if they join to English league, good things is if they allow Barcelona to join straight into their highest tier league. and if Catalan creates their own league, it will not be competitive and it requires some years for Barcelona to join UCL.
