How many bought ETH just to join an ICO ?

I would rather wait for the tokens to come to exchange to buy them directly than buying during ICO.

If you mean minimum investment in ETH - well, it depends on dev team of ICO. Minimum can be set as 0.01 ETH and higher.

i would say the main catalyst for bitcoin's rise this year was people buying bitcoin to buy ethereum to buy icos.

if there hadn't have been any icos then bitcoin would be half or less of its current price and ethereum would be 20-30 bucks.

That sounds plausible.

Depends on how each ICO campaign is handled but usually the lower limit isn't that big. It could be 0.01 ETH or even lower. You should ask yourself how many tokens you're looking to receive and how you'd value them or use them. No real minimum in most cases.

Well the minimum of each ICO is different from ICO to ICO!
If you want to know what you have to invest to make profit or not, you have to do some research about the team behind the project. If its a good investment and has a great use case in the future, you should invest more ETH than on other ICOs.

there is only a minimum limit and no maximum limit, so regardless you have eth all can be invested in ico. but you do not think about the benefits alone, understand also the risk of investing in ico.

Though I bought most of my ETH for ICO, the first time when I bought it, I wasn't aware it is being used as payment for ICOs.

I am holding Ethereums but not necessarily just for icos.  Not all icos are erc20 tokens and some only accept Bitcoins.  I keep both ETH and BTC because they can be exchanged to fiat very quickly.

I think we have a lot of people that bought Ethereum just to participate in an ICO. I mean we have so many tokens that are coming out of nowhere. The most is of them will be scam, but I saw a lot with some nice use cases. I also bought some ETH to play some ICOs, but I also plan to hold that ETH bag for a while. We will have a nice future Cheesy

depending on how many coins you want to buy, each ico has varying prices, at least you prepare 1 - 10 ether to buy the desired amount and no longer need to think about gas. Every ico I just set 0.5 - 1 ether, if the potential is good I will multiply it to touch hardcap.

I also bought some ETH to participate in potential ICO projects and I am sure if long-term investment in a potential ICO project will surely make a profit. In the future there will be many new ICO projects and keeping ETH right now is needed.

I do have some amount invested in ETH. But now whenever I need to invest in ICO, then only I buy some ETH leaving the already invested amount aside. Durin the recent drop, I bought some ETH for long term investment too. But usually what drives me to buy some ETH are ICO and this is the importance of utility which bitcoin lacks.

Most of the time this is true. But there are also many investors who just directly buy ETH to join ICOs. The thing is that Bitcoin is readily available if people are using fiat to enter into crypto. That is why many passes through BTC first before entering into ETH and finally the ICOs.

each ICO implements its own rules as well as the minimum investment limit of ICO, there is a substantial minimum investment and there are also ICO investments that allow small investments ranging from 1 ETH and others. but before investing I hope to do an analysis of the ICO that became a place to invest
