Lets not forget you are "borrowing" terminology from a REGULATED scene.. the stock markets.
White paper was borrowed as was IPO/ICO/ITO ..minus the regulations.
It was done in effort to legitimize the rampaging juggernaut of new ICO's flooding our scene.
You all adopted every little bit of stock market jargon you could think of.
You started calling open source decentralized crypto-CURRENCIES "startups"
They are not SUPPOSE to be "startups" and they are not companies and you are not investors.
It is a facade.. a charade ..for Bitcoin profits.
Bitcoin which was never an ICO ..nor premined with fake airdrop bullshit.

You know you guys you can play dumb all you want but it's in vain.
These are not "Penny Stocks" and when you betray your own well established and old guard crypto-ideaology it will simply result in TPTB coming after you with full force.

ICO = SCAM .

And get this..

There is an alternative.. it's called a crypto-currency. (something an ICO can never be)

I definitely do. It is important for me to, otherwise there is no way of knowing if the project is technically feasible. After reading the white paper I do a bit of research on the team.

You must be carefull where you invest your money in, I think there are many people not reading whitepaper and roadmap and get scammed or coins thei invested in is worth nothing, if you read the whitepaper you know what kind of project it is and if it is worth investing, look for a project where the makers/ people behind it actually are real existing people, look at how they try to make a community, do they have social media etc ? usually if they try to make a good and big community the project is legit.

I see a lot of people that do not bother to read the paper,
I try to do max due deligence before buying any coin.

What about you?

So many people don't take the time to read the withe paper and to get some info about the project.
That's why China is banning ICOs, because people are lazy and follow anything and everything.

The whitepaper is one of the first things i look at, as it is the layout of what the coin will do, how they plan to make it work etc.

It is not the only thing i look at, but it is very important. If you do not read the whitepaper, then you cannot be annoyed when you find out the concept doesn't work.

I think it's a must-do thing because every ICO has its advantages and disadvantages, and to invest in some project you need to read its white paper (one of the most important things!!!) at least in order to get the basic knowledge about it. Otherwise, it is at your own risk, and nobody but you should be reasonable about that. It's your own funds and you should be careful about that, conducting the thorough research beforehand.

Reading the whitepaper will help you understand why prices do what they do. Lets say a key aspect of a certain coin is integration into the Chinese economy. If prices dropped after the China news, it'd be easy to understand why.

Everybody should read a Whitepaper before investing money. I mean you should read more than the whitepaper, because you want to know who you trust your money! I dont invest money without reading the whitepaper, roadmap.I  research the team a have a look what they made before the current project

Yes. Whitepaper is the first thing I am looking at on an ICO. It seems like a business proposal and from it I got an assessment whether the project has potential or not. I think reading the whitepaper is really important and must give attention when considering an investment to any ICO.

Whitepapper is a face of project and if you see that there is nothing special has been written there, only facts about decentralizatioan and blockchain which everybody know already - i think you shouldn`t invest in this project. It`s better to read the technical explonation of the project, it`s economy model and facts that can prove the future if this idea.

I do always look up for their roadmap regarding on their plans on next years to come.I do always look out for long term because i do see on most ICO they are just good on their roadmap when it comes for long term but if they did already succeed and put in exchanges they are already forgetting on the set roadmap or future plans which is sad that they do end up like this.

I don't really like reading, so I don't read white papers. I only invest on coins where I can see potential, and I don't invest on ICOs because it is really risky. There are ICOs that are very famous but after a month or two most coins or tokens are dumped completely so it's just like a bubble. I trust coins that already existed long time ago like eth, waves, ltc, btc.

As a rule, before making any investments into the ICO project, I carry out a thorough research about the ICO and its potential and benefits. Otherwise, it would be rather risky without any knowledge to invest into.

I guess whitepaper is unseparable part from the project so reading the whitepaper is a must to me, even i'm not expert in investment but i tried to be smart investor by understanding the whole project.
