Spanish goverment is taking over control of catalan finances in order to "guarentee that no euros are spent on ilegal referendum of independence".

Julian Assange has been tweeting in favour of the catalans and has said in several times that use Bitcoin can be a good idea.

It's great news people use Bitcoin as alternative, but i'm sure the government will block website related to bitcoin to prevent bitcoin usage and make laws about bitcoin usage to forbid "illegal activity"

Spain has already blocked referedum's websites but Assange is talking about catalan goverment and civils helping to organize the referendum use Bitcoin to buy independentist posters, ballots, ballot boxes... And no website is needed for this.

I don't know how to feel about this. I always believed bitcoin could be used for good but I'm torn about using it to fund separatist movements. Oh well, at least the Catalans are well behaved and like to have a referendum like the Scots, not laying siege on cities, kidnapping and killing doctors and teachers, or bombing ships and trains. My country have a bad experience with separatists.

I think we should leave Bitcoin out of politics as much as we can, Catalonia freedom from Spain shouldn't drag Bitcoin into the mud and create a division among the Spaniards, we all want the best for Bitcoin but it shouldn't be used as a tool to divide one another.

Catalonia indeed needs their freedom and I'm happy they didn't look for any other conduit to propagate their message apart from Bitcoin. This show what Bitcoin can do and is doing around the world.
