Just recently the founder of the notorious torrent website the Pirate Bay launched a new privacy-centric domain registration service called ‘Njalla.’ This type of service has become a hot commodity lately as domain names are hard to obtain without providing identity details to the registrar.

“Think of us as your friendly drunk (but responsibly so) straw person that takes the blame for your expressions,” explains Njalla.

In addition to a managed DNS and support the company also accepts payments via bitcoin and the company’s headquarters is located in the Caribbean islands as Njalla is a 1337 LLC business based out of Nevis.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

It's looks like it is something very ground breaking, but in reality it really isn't. It's just them registering a domain for you, with their own details (whatever those may be), but you have access to these domains whenever you want. Important factor here is that you agree that legally, they (Njalla) are the rightful owner of the domains you purchase through them. As far as their pricing levels go, it's €15 for the most common domain extensions (e.g .com, .org, .net, etc), and then increases up to €75 for a bunch of garbage domain extensions. It will definitely serve some people, but it's an incredibly small market they have put themselves into. People in most cases have no problems registering domains, knowing that they can put themselves behind a whoisguard wall.

Totally agree with you mate. Looks like they are just a middleman trying to broker to help you buy domains "anonymously". I guess they are targeting different markets here *wink* *wink*. But your guess is as good as mine. In related news though, Piratebay have been found out mining monero for unsuspecting visitors of them. They are like injecting SQL into someone who is visiting their sites. LOL. Talk about raising some extra money. LOL. http://www.businessinsider.com/the-pirate-bay-hijacks-web-browsers-mine-cryptocurrency-monero-2017-9

This is more problematic that it seems. This opens wide doors for scammers and illegal activities. And this should worry us, cryptocurrency community as well. Just imagine how easy it will be now to make a scam ICO. Many ICO developers try to stay anonymous so they can scam people and avoid sanctions. If they register website with full name we could track them down this way, but if they register anonimous domain, scammers will avoid sanctions even easier.

Options to register a domain anonymously (e.g. WHOIS Protect) have been around for years.
This new service by the Pirate Bay founder is not really a new thing.
The guys, who want to run a scam ICO already had the possibility to stay anonymous before.

I was rather surprised by the fact how many different domains they are offering.
