I thought I was being secure, but it turns out I wasn't. I was never instructed by the Jaxx wallet app for Android that I needed a 12 word secret phrase to reload my wallet if I ever had a calamitous event. I thought I waw having foresight by saving the address of my wallet, but I guess that was my public address, not my private one. Is there any way to recover this wallet? It's not my investment. It was my 13 year old son's investment. I sure hope there's a way, or his hard earned money is gone. Thank you in advance.

You are in wrong section and i think better to move this thread here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=37.0

If you are still knows about your 12 phrase word seeds you recover it in other wallet like in electrum or in blockchain but if you are not noted even the private keys i think its impossible to recover them ..

12 words seeds are important and private keys if you don't have any copy you will never recover them back..

For now if you can't recover them hope you can learn right now and always backup your wallet in the future purposes..

Dude. They very clearly explain that u need to backup ur wallet. U simply did not understand how a wallet works.

Hope u did not lose too much.

U should also be able to restore the old state via android or iOS.

I guess you didn't read Jaxx terms of service. It was mentioned there that it is important to back up your private key as it is the only way to recover your wallet, else you may lose access to your funds. I'm not sure if this will work, but there's a software I saw on google to recover Android files after factory reset, here's the link to the tutorial: CLICK HERE.

Limited in number. Limitless in potential.

Sorry for your lost if how much coins do your jaxx wallet has, but there's no way to recover it without the recovery seed and some private keys of the wallet. You should read the important matters on making any kind of wallet, even it's not jaxx or any kind of wallet, recovery seed or private keys are the most important to save as backup if you don't have it then that's it, your coins are lost forever.

Looks like its a lot of money you have invested there dude, Correct?

I feel sad that you lost it since I also have a 13 year old son who I'm thinking of putting investment for him as well. I guess its a hard lesson to swallow because you always need to backup your seeds and your private key in cases like this. I think someone has posted a link for a video tutorial on how to recover, you might want to try it and maybe it would help you recover you funds of your 13 year old son. Goodluck.

But you have to face the worst case scenario that it is unrecoverable and lost already. Sorry to tell you.

I get it. I screwed up. I will try that Gihosoft program, although it doesn't look promising since it appears to only discover messages and pictures and the like. Hopefully, by trying to recover "documents", I'll see a Jaxx file. Thank you for your help.
Also, it was only $400 of his money (6% of a Bitcoin), but still.....he worked hard for that. It's more principle than anything.

Yep. Tried Gihosoft to no avail. Looks like I've learned the hard way. I could have sworn when I installed Jaxx, that there was not prompting of a security phrase. Just a 4 digit passcode. You'd think I'd remember something like having to write down a 12 word phrase....
