Hio all I have internet time/Windows time disabled yet something keeps changing my system time. This causes 2 of the 3 gpus to stop mining and report speeds of 30 Ghash/s each. The gpu running the display is not affected and continues to mine. Here is what I know so far... - 47 out of the 51 events happened after I updated Windows on March 23/13. There were only 4 during the previous 4 months. - The time change is being reported as UTC, even though my rig is set to the eastern can/us time zone. Any thoughts ? Thx in advance.

windows NT keeps times in UTC and then converts what it displays in your tray, it sounds like a sync error when your clock changes first it looks like you're losing time for some reason you can find out just how much here http://vancouver-webpages.com/time/as for ideas, if the one attached to the display is working i'd say your lowest effort solution is to use dummyplugs(or resistors much cheaper) to make the other cards think they're attached to something and go on with life.

Hio Deslok I've switched my pc to UTC, in case the solution is really that simple. heh.. Regardless, the time sync should not be happening because the option and service are both disabled.

your PC is still going to periodically sync with it's CMOS clock, changing to UTC is only going to affect your display value i only mentioned that since you were confused why the timechanges were referencing it. Personally i'd just use some resistors to make all of the cards think they're attached to monitors instead of hunting around for whatever software bug is causing the hiccup

Thx for the tip Deslok, but I do not think the dummy plugs will help. The gpus are always recoginzed and why I've never had to resort to using dummy plugs or creating fake displays. Keep in mind that this Windows install was 2 months old before the first instance was logged. So far, there have been none since the change to UTC. edit.. I just realized that my pc is in complete sync with the pool its mining on. I'll LMFAO if the pools were causing the time corrections.

Hio all I'm happy to say that my pc has been free'd from the clutches of the dreaded EVENT ID 1, since the timezone change to UTC. My guess is the updates and/or the pool's software are causing the conflict.

Or is it the forum's time servers ?? For the second consecutive time, the 'time warp' has occured seconds after making a post on this thread. And to think I was about to mark this thread as being solved. :/

Cgminer uses APIs to get the system time and use it to time actions such as when to request new work, when to report hashrates, how much nonces to scan and so on. If the time changes, it can cause undefined behaviour, yes.
But this holds true for any application that relies on time.

Thx for the info. I'm using Guiminer, btw. I assume the same applies. My next step is to either uninstall the win7 updates or just do a fresh install.

do that and go into the command line and try this net stop w32time w32tm /unregister that should forcibly disable the windows time service(and eliminate your recyncs to re enable it you'll need to do w32tm /register net start w32time w32tm /resync

BTCmine ! lol I'll run it by Dbitcoin once more.

What you are describing is the default user account that gets installed with windows. I'm using the hidden and real admin's account.
Seeing how it wasn't an issue before March, I really don't think this admin stuff has anything to do with it.

Hio all I'm happy to say that the Event ID 1s stopped when HPET, High Precision Event Timer, was re-enabled two weeks ago. I disabled it last March because it seemed to improve gaming performance. heh... For those that might be interested in trying this out : 1- enable/disable HPET from within the motherboard's bios 2- run the appropriate command from the command prompt Enable HPET - bcdedit /set useplatformclock true Disable HPET - bcdedit /deletevalue useplatformclock 3- reboot Thx to all for the help. pEACe
