I have created a detailed tutorial for all new miners. It is available over at Cryptocointalk.com There is no need to register to view the tutorial but it is a great site. I recommend checking it out.

I am hoping to provide people unfamiliar with mining a step by step easy to follow guide. Let me know of any improvements I can make!

Thanks for the input I will add a section about that tomorrow Smiley

I kinda slipped the stratum vs longpoll explanation in there. I will emphasize it tomorrow.

thx for this. good read

No problem. i will slowly be adding more descriptive sections. Tonight I will be adding a common issues/troubleshooting section. Later followed by cpu minging, using cgminer directly and maybe even a linux tutorial

Tonight I will also go into more detail on .conf file settings and port forwarding.

Updated with a brief intro to mining and a general troubleshooting section. I will be active at that forum if anybody has any issues just post your console information and a description of the problem over there on the thread.

Happy mining Smiley

If you are talking about GUIMiner yes It should work just the same I think. You dont need to follow the first step in solo mining section for un hiding known extensions
