Hello there fellow newbies.

I have mined a few bitcoins; what is the best way to convert a couple into $$?

The fastest would be to locally sell them for cash.

Second would be to sell them to someone on here for a bank transfer.

Last would be to sell them on an exchange and wait for a bank transfer from them.

Easiest legit way is probably coinbase, I've used them for a bunch of purchases and it's been great.

It seems like this topic comes up once a week or so. There should be a sticky for it either here in "Newbies" or over in "currency exchange".

A couple other ways:
-go to the IRC channel #bitcoin-otc and find somebody to trade
-use one of the many exchanges (campbx.com, bitstamp.net, mtgox.com)
-look in the "currency exchange" subforum here

If someone writes up a little guide for exchanging currency I'll edit my sticky to include it.

I second (or third, I guess) the Coinbase recommendation. I've got an article that should help you get started with Coinbase, if you haven't already: http://www.bit-buddy.com/buying-bitcoins-on-coinbase.html.

That doesn't specifically addressed the withdrawal of USD, but basically, once your Coinbase account is set up and your bank account is verified, you just sell your BTC, and your dollars are deposited directly to your linked account.

Coinbase charges a flat 1% fee every time you buy or sell Bitcoins.
