Instead of being so abrasive perhaps suggesting that he create more transparency behind his company on who the owner is would be more effective.

There are going to be thousands of new business in bitcoin opening over this year, most of them new members to the community. Gaining bitcoin holders trust with their money is going to be an important step. Hopefully we can be encouraging to new business owners rather than treat them with disrespect.

So far there has not been a single complaint about BTCrow.com and he really has the only other escrow service available that I know of.

Good luck to BTCrow and I hope you do offer more transparency on the identity of the business behind BTCrow.

Hi, thanks to point this out, As I said in forums and other blog comments etc, I know this will take time to have trust of others but I know that one thing, help people and people will help you grow your business while enjoying it. Yes so far I didn,t got any complain and will do everything to not have a single one. This don't prove trust at 100% and I'm completely aware of it.

My name is Jules Bedard, from Quebec City in Canada. I did a request to google to add my business location to google local business center but I'm still in the process of thinking if this is a great idea to reveal it or not. Because I don't want people knocking at door or calling all the time while I have other project. And as a computer security guy, I don't want to let possibility to malicious people to physically steal my things or other people money. Everything is in a secure place of course but unless I have enough customers to open a physical office in my town.

Let me know if you have others suggestions and you can also post them into the official thread that other people could also reply and see what's happening with BTCrow.

Wow...that is completely opposite of what bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general are about. How does knowing the guy's personal identity determine how he runs his business? He could be Jesus Christ and I wouldn't use the service if he had lots of complaints.

Likewise, he could be Ted Bundy, using a prison library computer, and I WOULD use his service if it has a good track record.


Judging business on personalities is an outgrowth of fiat currencies and socialism/Marxism. In the anonymous free market that bitcoin provides, reputation and competency are all that really matters.

Yes there is a certain amount of credibility that members with a long record of using these forums inherit, but if legitimacy requires a certain number of posts or length of time on this forum, new bitcoin businesses are doomed to fail your test.

I would certainly hope you aren't suggesting that only forum members that have "Hero" status are the only ones that should be trusted.

I certainly admire the early adopters of bitcoin and those who have been in this community a long time. They have a tremendous amount of wisdom and experience to share with those of us new to the community. I just hope that they will encourage and help newcomers and new businesses rather than feel threatened or immediately be skeptical because they are new.

One thing (of several) I would/will be looking for in an escrow service is a high level of anonymity.  I would be concerned about a successful attack on the escrow during the time I had an important transaction underway, and the types of attacks that concern me most would be from the legal system of the legitimate government of a state.

It would appeal to me to have the escrow service offer a significant bounty on identification or 'outing'.  That is, if BTCrow (in this example) publicly offered a significant reward to whoever could come up with his name and/or the details of his business, that would be a selling point to me.

You need to trust the guy for some reason OR trust the person/org/business that rates his trustworthyness.   I don't need to know the guy's shoe size.  I need to know he is honest, competent and neutral.  Name and location is at least something to go on, provided it can be independently verified.  the relevant question is if he is trusted by someone or something that I trust.

In fact, I prefer an anonymous organization for security reasons and think a .onion site is more appropriate (Silk Road has probably the best escrow service at the moment).

...now that could make sense if you have a decent idea of what makes someone trustworthy (and it has nothing to do with them releasing their ID).

Again, look for a good track record. Thieves/scammers aren't gonna go through the trouble doing good business and establishing a record just to torpedo it later.
