First Look at this: http://www.fairphone.com/

It's a fantastic idea, lets try and get them to be even more fantastic by asking them to have Bitcoin Software ship preloaded on the phone. Of course we can't the whole blockchain in the thing, so what is the second best alternative?

Andreas Schildbach's Bitcoin Wallet seems a pretty good alternative.

Although it really needs wallet encryption, I hope that will be implemented soon.

In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

I have also written them to accept Bitcoin. It's a great marketing opportunity for Bitcoin, enabling a fairly made and produced smart phone.

Even though it offers "root access", is the phone still able to be spied upon and tracked? (I think most still ping while "off"?)

This will so be my next phone, I absolutely love the idea behind it.
Though I'm not sure if it's a great idea to bundle Bitcoin client with the phone. Of course it would be a great way to promote Bitcoin but I think the majority of paying customers wouldn't appreciate pre-installed "unessential" software on their phone, which they may conciser useless to them. Or at least I hate when new devices come with bloatware which I cannot uninstall.

I'd buy that for a dollar bitcoin!
