Fund your dwolla, then buy from tradehill.  Once purchased, transfer your BTC to your own wallet.  You can then transfer a portion back to tradehill or Gox to sell, then transfer that back to dwolla then back to cash.

if you want to buy tonight you might be too late on the decision.  Dwolla takes about 2-3 biz days to clear your account, then another 2-3 biz days to post the funds from your account. Sending that over to TH or Gox might take another day?

I personally went Dwolla - > Exchange, but like I mentioned it takes time to fund it. If you haven't signed up on Tradehill the link in my sig will take you to that.

Good Luck & Welcome!

That, or use some online wallet service.  I personally found the advice in the securing your wallet sticky to be most helpful.  I use my daily wallet for small things, donations, etc, and my secure offline wallet for big deposits.

At this point I'm too broke to really benefit from the secure wallet, but it's there haha.

Don't use an online wallet service.  They're so full of holes that you REALLY shouldn't trust them with more than whatever amount of BTC would be virtually meaningless to lose.

Definitely download the client, and use whatever address it gives you there.  Keep the client running so it will download the blockchain and keep that side of things updated.

Try Tradehill they take Dwolla, referral code is in my sig if you want 10% off your trades their for your account. I like bitcoin7, but they're not accepting Dwolla right now. They do take other services however.

I would like to add that bitcoin7 has cheaper per coin prices right now at $15 compared to $17 at Tradehill. I have a bitcoin7 referral code in my sig as well.

looks like I'm screwed tonight.

Dwolla requires bank interaction. I was hoping more for a paypal transfer

and they take 2-3 days.

Sad

anyone got any good news?

This, it does take time and waiting, I specifically made a few deposits to my Dwolla in anticipation of tonights potential bitcoin price buffet. All my money has cleared and is waiting to be transferred to the exchanges.

Your bitcoin client for your main wallet should be off 99% of the time. decrypt it, mount it, use it, then shut it all down and encrpyt it again. And make sure you have a backup copy of the truecrypt file.

as others have said, these exchanges are not banks. don't keep your entire btc fund in the hands of one of these exchanges. transfer it in, use it, pull most of it back out. most people wouldn't keep 1000s of dollars sitting in their paypal account and they're 100x more secure.
