you share part of the blame though, for using same password everywhere. Stop doing it.

Hey guys, remember how MtGox made us use our MtGox password everywhere else?  I'm glad they changed that policy.

Bitcoin Fact: the price of bitcoin will not be greater than $70k for more than 25 consecutive days at any point in the rest of recorded human history.

Aww be nice. Yes using the same password for all your accounts is a bad idea, we can all agree. But give him a little slack.

Sorry, but if somebody managed to decrypt your password, it was probably not very strong.
But you're right, leaking a database with over 60,000 user passwords is just unacceptable --> Mt. Gox's fault !

But using the same password for bitcoin trading, PayPal AND online banking is both unacceptable and stupid --> sorry, but that's your fault !

I swear to god if I ever see you fucks in real life you better run. from now on I will select a different, strong password for each site I use, perhaps using KeePass to keep them all safe.

Fixed.

Why does Bitrebel have 65+ Ignores?
Because Bitrebel says things that some people do not want YOU to hear.

Speaking of LulzSec - you've been psyop'd by LulzSec.

That 62,000 password file does not contain the service at which it was used.

It's easy for people who are technically knowledgeable to sit there and do the "blame the victim" game, except there are just a few things that need to be remembered.

1. If it's the guilty party -- like, you know, the people who gave the PASSWORDS to an ACCOUNTANT -- that tries blaming someone else, we all think of them as a fucking jerk.

2. How many times do people hear the line "No, we can only change your password, because the system keeps it encrypted so we can't see it" from technical support -- you know, the people the average user is SUPPOSED to trust to be more knowledgeable? I've run across PLENTY of people who take that the wrong way and assume it's OK. Especially if they use decent passwords. Seriously, plenty of "techs" still claim 8 characters, non-dictionary, is sufficient. Do I know these techs are wrong? Ayup. Would I expect most of my relatives to know? Hell no.

If you want bitcoins to be accepted as a currency, try being, oh, I don't know, polite and helpful to people who didn't actually pay for a course on computer security because it's not actually their job. Seriously, good luck getting any "average" business to take bitcoins when you can't resist telling them how stupid you think they are because they don't know more than a comp sci graduate about technical matters.
