why can't you buy neo with shapeshift?

I like neo but I am afraid to buy it because shapeshift, doesn't offer it. I am afraid maybe it is a scam, so that's why shapeshift doesn't offer it. I mean, only bitfinex offers it. One lone exchange offers it. That just raises all kinds of red flags. From my research, I think the following is true;
1. It is not instamined
2. It is open sourced
3. It offers much higher transactions per second than ethereum
4. It is run by an A.I.

However,
1. Only bitrex sells / buys it
2. shapeshift doesn't offer it
3. It is Chinese, so don't expect any anonymizing or privacy measures like coinjoin, tumblers, or ring signatures like monero. Although Buterin promised privacy measures for ethereum last year for today, it is still not anonymous, so I don't believe it. However, the Neo guys don't even have privacy on the road map.
