I always see it mentioned that you don't need to use both the 8 pin and the 6 pin power connector when mining.  But why not?  We are pushing these cards to their limit, why would that not help?  Is it because we are not overclocking the core, just the memory?  Or maybe because we're not actually driving monitors with the cards.

Has anyone tried using both power connectors to see if it does increase the hash rate?

if you mine dual coin as eth/dcr, eth/sia gpus consume more power and crashes a few minutes later. because of 1 single power-in not enough. if you did not dual mining 1 power-in enough.
thats not any fact on hashrates btw

My cards run perfectly stable dual mining on only the 8 pin connector but I don't OC them to the extreme.

There is no need to use the 2 power connectors. The idea behind power connectors are very good on amd cards, on nvidia card it does not work but on amd cards, it works, just make sure the power connector used is up for the job, 6 or 8 pin.

I always see it mentioned that you don't need to use both the 8 pin and the 6 pin power connector when mining.

I don't know where you are seeing this LIE, but any card with multiple power connectors will flat out refuse to work AT ALL if they aren't both connected.

Trying to run on one will totally mess up the power circuitry ON THE BOARD to the point the board probably wouldn't work at all and might FRY that power circuitry AND THE GPU AND MEMORY, even if it DIDN'T check for both connected in the BIOS code before the BIOS enables the GPU for actual usage.

This LIE is is straight from the manual..

The combinations are there..

I only use an 8 pin connector on each card.. working fine for me

Wierd card then, EVERY card I've worked with that had 2 connectors would flat out refuse to run FOR SAFETY TO THE POWER REGULATION CIRCUITRY if it only has one of the 2 connectors hooked up properly.
