First I need to tell you to be carefull before clicking any websites sent on slack! Check link and think 10 times before you give your private key to the site.

I got the same message couple days back from slack and if you look at the myetherwallet link in the email, it is spelled myeitherwallet. So please do not click on that link and hopefully you didn't unlock wallet by uploading your private key.

That e-mail come to me too but i didnt click on there really i am shocked now.Even slackbot can send spam message??thanks for your warning because i will probably click

It message many times in slack saying they will upgrade the myetherwallet. If you click and input your private keys it will hack all your tokens. This means it is not legit, phishing attacks, so it is better to stay out of any link because it will not safe.

The byzantium and zksnarks already tested in the tesnet and that was true the fork will come as soon as possible with that was different with the bitcoin fork that will always be generating the new fork token caused by the forked of the network.

Like others had said, be extremly carefull opening links and giving your info in slack channels, many scam artists in some of those slacks.

i think the eth fork will be come again for the POS update but i think you need to be careful for any message that come from slack
and if you accidently click it just make sure you use a correct myetherwallet.com

Don't click any slack message and emails. They all are scam and don't share your private key with 3rd party web site.

Sounds like a scam. I wouldn't click anything from Slack

slack is now a big source of scam, they're easily manipulated by the hackers and have too many hole for the scammers to get in. never ever trust anything from slack, even the hacker can use the same username as the slack moderator.
by the way, MEW will automatically upgrade and doesn't require manual action. never ever click that link.

With me being part of couple of Slack groups, I am constantly being reminded about securing of my ETH wallet. However, when I look closely to these links, I see that these are scam/phishing sites. So, fellas please be careful while opening any links and entering your private key. We all know that ETH was and continues to be one of the top most hacking platform when it comes to Crypto.

Don't click any slack message and emails. They all are scam and don't share your private key with 3rd party web site.

yes there are some people who make mistakes. they try to give fake information on slack. I have never done anything with slack except reading the information.

do you even know how many forks bitcoin already had and without any issues? always with 100% support of the network aka full consensus.
compared to that ETH is fully centralized because the just force you to fork and go to the new chain. like they did with the ETH/ETC fork where majority did not want the fork but the minority with the money wanted the fork and created the ETH fork.
now is the same story again, they are forcing you to go to the new fork because they have implemented a "bomb" that will kill the old chain even if you choose that.

The ETH fork is the one its lead developers are planning and yes, it looks like it will happen because Vitalin wants it. But it is not different from "bitcoin fork" because it will also have a "new" token, or rather the fork will be the one that everyone will know as ETH. There are also other forks being proposed, just like with bitcoin.

Yes, correct, but there were issues with bitcoin forks also. Remember Bitcoin Cash? This one happened without full network support, therefore we have competing chains now. And yeah, ETH is different because the path from the DAO fork was chosen and that means now they place full faith in the centralized leadership of ETH.

Yes, this happened to me too in the Waves slack account a month ago, got an email from their slack bot about updating something...in the live discussions on slack they were warning users about the message as a phishing scam. I almost clicked it cause it looked SO legit and you don't really think twice when you think it comes from a trusted source.

So yeah, careful what you click!
