What will you do if some altcoin (XMR or ETH for example surpasses the value of BTC, either in market cap or by the price of a token each? Will you sell your BTC to buy the more "valuable" coin, or continue using and holding BTC? Also, what do you think are the chances that it could happen? I would like to hear your thoughts and opinions.

It can't happen since BTC is here from the beginning, or maybe in a few decades so it's easy to see it coming.

Anything is possible but Bitcoin currently enjoys a 10X price premium versus its closest competitor. Another coin, such as ETH could potentially overtake in in market-cap one day, but I still think that would be a few years off. Myself, I hold BTC as well as many of the popular alts, so I would probably continue to hold a variety of promising coins including BTC if it were to ever become dethroned.

I just dont see this happening anytime in the near term. Bitcoin is what everyone thinks of when they hear cryptocurrency. The name has barely even scratched the surface of educating the public. To overtake Bitcoin you would have to erase all the progress made on saying Bitcoin is the future and that altcoins can serve other purposes. If an altcoin surpasses Bitcoin I would expect the overall market to be in alot of trouble. Not saying it cant happen but I would expect that to take many years of development and innovation to be possible.

The only currency that can surpass the value of btc is eth. Its becoming quite popular. Quick transaction times and low fees is another plus plus point of eth over btc.

in my opinion the possibilities are very far away, because in terms of price BTC has a high price compared to other altcoin. takes a long time to compete with BTC.

If you're freaked out by a coin's individual units being worth more then you should abandon Bitcoin right now because there've been more than a few already. 42 coin stands out as the main example. That's because there were 42 in total. Kiddies should do their homework and figure out how many there are in total.
As for market cap, I think it's quite possible something else could go past on a run. Would it be the end of the world? I think it's time people let go of the idea of it being all about Bitcoin. There are projects that have no aspiration to be a currency or store of value that could be worth more. The only competition they're in with BTC is the funds sloshing around exchanges.
In that scenario I wouldn't care.

there already are a couple of altcoins with higher price than bitcoin there are already other altcoins with bigger market cap than bitcoin too! Will you sell your BTC to buy the more "valuable" coin,
being "valuable" is not defined by price nor by market cap. the value is the coin itself, the network, the wallets, the security of the code, the hashrate, the services, merchants, users,... Also, what do you think are the chances that it could happen?
it has already happened so the chance is 100% it is just price, not "value" though
here is the list in case you were wondering: coin name ....... price Bit20 $199,075 (~200K) Project-X $165,012 42-coin $8509.41 Primalbase Token $4566.06 bitBTC $4540.86

It is not so Easy, current value of BTC is around 4000+ usd I could not see any Altcoin which is close to Bitcoin. People says that ETH is the future king coin but compare within BTC vs ETH you can find a Huge Distance.

Nothing happens, we keep having and trading bitcoin still. Ethereum can pass bitcoin in the future but this doesn't change the balance betwee bitcoin and others. I mean bitcoin doesn't become weak because of this.

Yes I agree to you that it takes time to compete the price of bitcoin. Bitcoin now is a strong currency because there are many investors and supporters of bitcoin that don't want to dump the price of bitcoin even there is a bad news that appear and cause the price to dump it is some ways to attract more people to buy bitcoin.

Actually there is... Lol. It's just a joke. I found it on google. This is a scam. They call it "the billion coin"(TBC). This is a scam because you can't see its marketcap at coinmarketcap. Also several bad reviews from reputable sources. But seriously, i don't see any altcoin which gonna surpass bitcoin. But of course its too early to say that. Maybe after a year, there's an altcon surpasses bitcoin. Time will tell... But as of now, bitcoin is really unstoppable because the community is getting bigger and bigger each day. So to see bitcoin surpassed by an altcoin is unimaginable.

XMR or ETH for example surpasses the value of BTC I barely doubt that these coins will cross the value of bitcoin because they don't have that much market capitalisation and they will never achieve one. It needs attention of big investors who believes in the coin but surely there will be none as long as bitcoin is there. Will you sell your BTC to buy the more "valuable" coin, Ahh! Well first of all the first thing should be clear then we can talk about this. But that would be obvious if any other coin surpasses the bitcoin then we will have to switch there. what do you think are the chances that it could happen? That would be null.

for me, i thinks its not, no one alt-coins can surpass bitcoin, but if has one alt-coins can surpass bitcoin, maybe i will sell mine (bitcoin) and buy more "valuable" coin to earn much profits than the existing one. but its never gonna happen dude, wake up and dont assume that one of those altcoin youve mentioned has a potential to surpass bitcoin in the future but its not. because bitcoin is the only one original cryptocurrency leading in the market that cannot copy/imitate by its own value and price.

People should stop focus on the value of an altcoin or their market caps. Altcoins enjoy no actual usage other than the speculative aspect, and that's something people here don't seem to think about.
There have already been altcoins with a higher unit value than Bitcoin, and there have been several altcoins with a higher market cap than Bitcoin ~ it's absolutely meaningless.
No altcoin comes even close to the level of usage that Bitcoin experiences, or how secure its network is, or how much money is going through its ecosystem, and that's the most important thing here.
Altcoins come and go, and due to cheap tricks they can have a massive market cap, or a massive unit value, but that's as I said, meaningless. Bitcoin remains the first and only crypto coin that enjoys the far majority of the support.

You panic over things that are probably not a issue at all. Even if a Alt coin becomes more popular than Bitcoin, it would not mean that it would be the end of Bitcoin. People still buy other cars, even if one model become more popular than the others. People buy coins for different reasons... some people could stay with Bitcoin, because it was the original coin.

Anything is possible, but this will not happen this year or in the next 5-10 years. Bitcoin was the first so it is a factor why this might not happen, but to answer your question i will still hold on to my bitcoin as i dont see this happening soon however, i can start trading little by little with alt coin converting bitcoin to alt coin and vice versa, this way you gain profit little by little and if you think that another alt coin will overtake bitcoin then trade or sell what you have.

its very much possible for an Alt coin to surpass BTC in value especially if the coin has more relevance or proposes in its white paper to solve issues being experienced in using BTC. I hope to see that happen..lol
