In my opinion, except that scam/scammers, there is not so much wrong in currently.
But i think, crypto-community getting grow and everybody saying something about everything without knowing and researhing.
They prefer to read speculations instead of learning something real and have their own idea and point of view about it.

I think the biggest problem is spam. Mindless comments should be moderated. Since moderators of the forum are few to deal with the problem, each campaign should have its own, and campaigns without proper moderation should be disabled.

The crypto community is getting stronger day by day with more users getting into it as well more digital assets getting existence on different platforms based on different requirements. As an user stated the increased number of hacks, scammers and security issues happening around the community seems to be the only problem.

I think this is the number of participants. The crypto community is still too small, but in my opinion it will be corrected with time.

Can you guys think of what the next FAD will be after 99% of these ICOs have suckered people out of their bitcoin? What is the next moneymaker for scammers?
That's also what I think is the biggest problem. But no matter how much you warn these newbies, some people will only learn through experience.

People join every project and praise it to heaven, everybody hypes the projects they are in, even if they suck.
Get's annoying seeing everyone shill.

The two issues I am most concerned about are:

1) Greed
Many investors don't seem to have any intention to use the tokens they are investing in, they are just looking to get rich. If a token does have a real world use then we should be striving to use it as such, not simply hodling.

2) The hyperfocus on blockchain technology while ignoring decentralization.
I believe the recent FUD surrounding China has made this more evident than ever. Investors are practically begging China to start regulating the market so that they can get rich. There's been a lot of hype around NEO for a while, and I bought into some of it as well, but can we really trust any token/platform that China has begun digging its hooks into? If we're giving China our personal information and paying the government to use NEO then where is the revolution? As Andreas Antonopoulos likes to remind us, without decentraliztion "blockchain" is just a fancy word for database.

There are a few issues that plague the crypto community.

Firstly just sheer greed - For investors they are just looking to get rich, rather than actually looking what the technology could potentially do, we are trying to break away from the old banking system and people are still too focused on trying to get rich quickly. Also on the altcoin themselves some companies are just trying to raise as much as possible (more than they need to get their coin off the ground)

Money - There is already too much money flowing around, the fact that even celebs are now jumping onto the bandwagon, when they can barely spell the world cryptocurrency never mind explain their potential

Unregulation - While i know that regulations can be a bad thing, it is too easy to make a whitepaper and start receiving large sums of money without a great concept.

As stated in the title, what do you think is the biggest problem in the Crypto Community?

That some young guys can raise $10 million in an ICO and go live their fantasy coding in a beach house in Costa Rica, without even having solved any of the design issues of how to innovate proof-of-work or proof-of-stake such that it can be decentralized and scale.

They are trying to build a blockchain and do not even have a design yet. All they know is they want to build user friendly GUIs, yet their FAQ won't display correctly in either of my older Firefox or Chromium browsers on Linux (I had to view source to read the FAQ answers). So when they can not even get the GUI of their FAQ to work correctly, and that (user friendly GUIs) is the only thing they are claiming is their USP (unique selling point), one wonders why this group has $10 million in funding and I have $50,000 in funding yet I have innovated and solved the decentralized, unlimited scaling ledger issue which is fundamental to every kind of scaling apps we need.

All these ERC-20 projects are not going to scale because Ethereum will not scale (and at the least not scale decentralized)! It’s also interesting to read that both of Dan and Vitalik agree their systems (DPoS and Casper) are vulnerable to manipulation by concentrated power; whereas, afaik my decentralized ledger invention is (in theory) the first one that is not and which can also scale unlimited decentralized.

These social media apps as ERC-20 tokens put the cart before the horse.

I do not want to sell an ICO because I do not want to make the future tokens of the project banned and encumbered with being illegal (or even legal registered) securities (in every different jurisdiction in the world which has separate registration requirements for securities).

It is as if our ecosystem is dumb and is not allocating capital correctly.

I am not going to publish my design now, because some others will just steal it and go raise money using my design.

(A couple of those Nimiq programmers seem smart, but seriously intense coding is done on full size keyboards and large screens sitting upright in a chair, not lounging on a sofa in a prone position typing on a laptop in your lap)

The name Nim makes me think of nimrod. Frankly after viewing him in a couple of different videos, the founder seems like a clown to me even though at least two of their programmers seem smart.

Also I tried to join their Telegram chat because that seems to be the only way to contact them, and permission was refused. How can a group that raised $10 million be uncontactable  Huh

I could write a 100-page dissertation on the things wrong with crypto and this forum in general.  I think most of you have brought up most of the issues already so I won't expound on them.

biggest problem with this community; people have lost the real point to, and potential of having a true p2p currency.

whats the point in creating an alternative to the worlds greedy bankers' fiat if we ourselves become the greedy bankers.

I think decentralization of the crypto-community could have both positive and negative effect, though I'm fine with the way it is now.  Wink

There are multiple problems with the crypto community but I'll point two of the main ones. Firstly, spreading FUD without any backing to it. Secondly, it would be the pump and dump factor associated with hyped coins. There is no possible way of eradicating these problems as there will be more and more people doing their things.

Banning ICOs may remove a lot of it.

The authorities would have to become very aggressive globally in most nations in order to truly ban it.

Greed.

Nailed it. Most of the new people comming into crypto don't even care about the tech and don't try to help getting this gamechanging software foreward. They only care about profits. That's why we have so many panic sellers. All they think of is how to get rich over night. We need more passion again.

Honestly, I do not think that something is much wrong) But I got the impression that there are many users with an unrealistic one-sided view of crypto-currencies. Plus spam of course, although this is quite an expected phenomenon)

If i were to answer your question,  I think the one of the problem that we have right now is the lack of initiative of some members to share their knowledge about cryptocurrencies to those who dont have any idea yet.  Because for me cryptocurrency will be able to prosper more if the number of its user will increase.  And this wont happen if not everyone of us will take part in the promotion of it.
