Posting this in its own thread so it gets better visibility (posted yesterday in another thread)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just discovered the same thing happened to me. I messaged Cyrus just a few minutes ago - hoping I can get this resolved. My PW was pretty good, I don't think it was cracked or whatever. Here's some proof of handle-identity just for the record:
-----------------------------------------
I tried to log in today and discovered that my account was hacked and my recovery email changed. Others seem to be having this problem too. In any case, I'd like to get my account back or have the original one locked. My username was "Mr Felt." I never posted at BTC address b/c I didn't want to be traced, so I can't sign a wallet address. However, I own several social media accounts associated w/ the Mr Felt identity and can post messages to substantiate my claim.

For example, I own: @mrfelt_ (twitter), medium --> Felt, network23.org/dogecoin, etc. I have a few blog posts on medium and network 23 with screenshots of posts of mine from BTC talk.

For example: In this blog post I reference a thread from BTC Talk: https://network23.org/dogecoin/2016/01/24/part-3-a-summary-on-why-peter-todd-is-probably-satoshi (word search "UPDATE FROM BITCOINTALK THREAD"). See also Note 16 here: https://medium.com/@Felt/grand-theory-supp-1-702488489a9f

I've put up 2 new posts on the blogs indicating I was hacked.

1. https://medium.com/@Felt/hacked-6d1625cd4b2
2. https://network23.org/dogecoin/hacked/

Is this sufficient?

Help.

Are you able to provide signed message from staked address for this account ? Signed message is the only way to recover the accounts, if you have it then there is no need to worry. Contact the admins and provide them signed message, they will help you to recover your account.

I do not, which is why I'm trying to prove ownership w/ other 3 other accounts from 3 different platforms that have made reference to my Bitcointalk Mr Felt account over the years via screenshots and updated posts (same concept as signing w/ a staked account). I don't need the old account back necessarily, having the stolen account immobilized would be fine.

The required criteria for account recovery is here:

When the subject of buying BTC with Paypal comes up, I often remember this:

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
