Modern wars are impossible between any two parties with nuclear capabilities, but classic hypothesis war can be always exersices.
During history, China had been invaded many times, last one was by Japanese during mid thirties till end of WW2. But today and in regard to both country traditional arsenal, economic resources and social stability I would say both countries has similar chances of winning defensive wars on their home land, in short the offender will lose.
