According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

I doubt about its future. But I don't think it's a dead coin. It is traded in Bittrex and cryptopia with the volume of 130k dollar in past 24 hours.

You don't need to bump this thread, brother.  And you can get in trouble for doing that.
The reason why no one wants to engage in this topic is because the coin is dead as a
door nail.  It's so dead that I've never actually heard of it.  You've got money flowing through
about 600 different coins on the market, and only about 3% of them have any sort of use.
And there are probably only 20 people in existence who want to come here to talk about
them.  And only about 2 of those speak enough English to make sense.  So good luck trying
to stimulate conversation about this coin.  Ain't gonna happen.

Zclassic was the original Zcash fork until all the Developers left it for Zencash.

To the OP: Yes the coin is dead at the time being since the dev's aren't working on it anymore. However, there was a recent tweet by the zclassic twitter account signifying that it might just still be alive and not completely gone yet, so at this point id say its a risk. I have a few myself that Im holding just incase.

It's left behind. They seeked their fate looking at the relative success of Ethereum classic, but resisting change or not being able to change will make you left behind.

It's going to hard for sure for Zclassic to survive when ZCash has everything against them being a success. Plus as ZCash has a lot more funding and has their founder's rewards, they are able to market their product better.

I like their idea, i don't think it's fair for the devs to take 10% of the entire circulation just to compensate themselves.

But there is just no marketing whatsoever, and the coin seems to be dying.

Last I heard there is no current development going on.

That could change if someone wanted to pick up the reins, but it's not easy to have top notch people volunteer their time.

No it is not dead actually but it seems not many people are interested in this coin. It is not a ethereum classic though. The team behind coins always matters even if a coin seems not interesting.

Between Zcash and Zencash, it doesn't really have a reason to exist. If you want classic you go with Zcash. If you want innovation and absolute anonymity you go with Zencash.

Zencash is a strong and visionary project IMO, and was originally intended to replace ZClassic until a dev decided to backtrack. Why buy ZClassic when there is Zencash?

I think this coin was dead from the start. Like Ethereum classic. I honestly don't understand why people buy them.

I don't think the term is already dead. I think it is dying, it slowed down. Not like ETH and other cryptos that is commonl used in any other transactions. Zclassic is not really the talk of the town. Though it is still existing in the crypto market with a market cap of about $300m I think they are still in the game. It's only that they have slowed down in terms of popularity I guess and reliablity in  sense.
