The People's Bank of China & South Korean Financial Services Commission should reverse their bans on ICOs immediately as they are sending a global message that stifles innovation.

Regulatory bodies are there to protect investors, but in this case, such an outright and draconian ban only leaves their countries wallowing behind the rest of the world.

Cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies are the next internet, that will bring about new powerhouses like Google and Amazon. Do China and South Korea really want to stand by the side while other nations give birth to these new giants? Financial regulatory leaders cannot be so heavy handed and short sighted, as this ultimately cuts them off from what is promising to be as significant for global innovation as the internet was in the twentieth century.

Let's demand a more enlightened position. Citizens of China and South Korea deserve to play a role in the adoption of this technology that will change the world.

The OPEN Initiative stands alongside those who support mainstream adoption of cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies.

I understand your urge to continue ICOs and altcoins in China and South Korea but take it from me, even if you get 7 billion signs on your petition (just about the number of people in this world), those countries would still not listen to anybody. Their decisions are completely based internal decision making which is carried out by the communist government and we all know how communist governments work in this world.
Anyways, signed the petition for the hope of good.

I signed the petition but i highly doubt that it will reverse amything. We're not even citizens of these respective countries so why would their governments listen to these petitions? Let's just hope they'll realize that the effects of crypto would, in the long run, be beneficial for their constituents.

Does this petition will make any difference ? I do not think it will have any effect on normal countries let a lone we are taking about china !! Now way that this petition gonna work . Anyway I will do it just for support maybe I am wrong and to be honest the effect of banning ICO in those countries surprised me I thought it would be much greater but looking on how BTC reacted it turn out BTC and ( crypto overall by default ) are much stronger than most of us thought they are . BTC price now sitting at $4300+ just giving them the finger make me smile .

Nah, you do not need to do anything. Just let those countries watch others conduct good ICOs and see them slowly move towards regulation. When they see that they are missing out, they will change their minds. After all, most people feel China's bans are just to kill the weeds at the roots while they draw up the necessary legislature. I do not think there is any need to dramatize these bans

I wouldn't sign this.  For one thing, what Korea and China do is up to them and is none of my goddamn business.   

Second,  online petitions are ineffective in general.

Third, the US banned them and I could care less.

Fourth,  most ICOs don't need to exist and I would say most only want to make the devs rich.  Why would I fight to save them, even if it's a lazy, lousy way of fighting--an apt description of online petitions.   No thanks!

Guys, I think it's funny. A country like China is unlikely to respond to our petition. Besides, there are rumors that China will begin to regulate ico and resolve them, so the petition is no longer needed.

I don't understand the point of signing this so called petition when the news is spreading like wildfire that China is about to regulate ICOs which mean that ICOs will be back within a short span of time and will be regulated by law. So in this case signing your petition won't be able to help them as they are already planning to do the same.

I do think ICOs should be more regulated and investors should have a legal option to get their money back if developers don't fulfil their promises or in case they don't send the tokens at all. But banning them all together, this is just stupid and maybe petition like this will make the law-makers think again and change their decision.

I signed the petition too - more out of moral support than the effectiveness of it. Truthfully, I had no idea South Korea also had a ban until I read the petition. Will be it successful? (shrugs) But maybe spreading the word will cause a ripple effect and people will take notice. I personally don't like anyone telling me how to spend my money or my crypto.  US is probably one of the worst with their regulations!

I truly believe BTC is going to stay around $4500 and shoot past $5k in 2018.  I don't mind the falls from weak hands. That's the time to snap up the crypto on the cheap.

So much this.  I signed it as well, but to believe governments actually listen to the 'common' people for policies is laughable.  It's all about consolidating power and returning favors for those who pad their pockets.

I don't know if I agree with this. Investors should definitely do their research before throwing money or crypto at something. In my experience, people launch a business with the hope that it succeeds. They get seed money, investors, family and friends to help support that goal. Businesses fail and some people lose out. That's the price of chasing a dream.  Why is an ICO any different? It's just a crowdfund using a different name.
