A robust meshnet wouldn’t need web access to get information? Or is SHL meant to exchange/send information, such as text messaging someone on the opposite side of a meshnet?

That is just of course, Currently for free because of IOTA's zero fee. I will not consider this as a competition due to the fact that it is not backed or well funded.

That sounds awesome and logical that in the long run Oyster will be unique and in domination position being most advanced than other projects. Oyster Pearl is among very few tokens I don't care of their price even I am at loss. Just imagine how powerful the come back will be whenever it takes place in future.

Connor did you cheat your progressbar
as in tick it up a lil bit at the start to make it seem like something is happening
Yeah you did for now its doing as much as oysterstorage- meaning nothing, if anything changes ill post it here, otherwise my meme uploads are in limbo for both.

I can't remember the brand, but I remember the blocky external modems using serial ports.
And now Oyster went back to using them, classic. Smart.

The pearlbot is quick as why would the website be slower? Isnt it technically using the same background process to not have any difference?

So they are going to upgrade the storage limit or not? 25MB upload capacity is fairly useless tbh.

Right makes sense, the protocol wasn't designed for video streaming per se obviously but it will be nice to have seeking supported.
Pretty sure something like VLC will just give you some glitches followed by correcting itself again

Right gotcha that would suck if you want to skip the fucking long scifi intro when bingewatching
but that is a inherit property of the protocol right, hash the handle again and again to keep moving on to the next chunkie, I thought that was really elegant.

This protocol is on beta Mainnet once they will move to full version than everyone will be able to use more storage space. You can read the disclaimer about the status of this network and in future user have to 1 PRL for 64GB/Year.

Development Update August 31, 2018

Additionally, we will be moving our blog posts from Medium to Wordpress to optimize Oyster’s blog indexing across different search engine results. Oyster will release a followup update once the new site design is live.

I'm obviously agree with the necessity of a complete change in the ads field. My question (ok, I'm not a programmer, so it could be a stupid question) is: if any site adopt a similar solution, it can a burden on cpu power or on utility bill? Thanks!

Better if they do Both. Medium is a social media of Blogs. WP thing is Search Engine Optimization. My preferrable and best option to read some news is still via Medium.

A lot is really going with the project, long after the ICO hype. That's is a sign of dedicated development team members. It wasn't a mistake investing in you guys. Even though the prize is down now, neither team nor the community is not perturbed about it as there are no discussion about the prize in here. I see a very big re-bounce in the very near future. I wish the team will list the token in a better exchange to increase volume and possibly drive prize up a little bit.

On previous page someone has suggested to keep both medium and wordpress for updates and this sounds really good suggestion. It is always good to use multiple methods and sources to keep the word spread about the project. The main focus should be to keep the existed readers on board while exploring new markets and users to get familiar with project.

The main purpose of redesigning of website is to bring attraction in it. That plan to split the information in many pages will surely make things interesting. Having all the information on single page in straight layout doesn't catch up some times. Oyster Pearl is backed by strong development and real use case so in long term all will be fine.

Sry, but that new design is bad as the last one... There are so many designs out there where you only have to copy. Is maybe the ceo saying it has to look like this or something, otherwise i can't understand. It is from people who are programming and making a website...  Go on dribbble or pinterest and look for webdesign inspiration and copy that. There you can also see how to structure a website..

The only way that transactions are free to file uploaders is if someone else pays for it (ie using the brokers as a sidechain)
Which is a bad idea considering how much brokers already have to do. Adding confirming txs to their responsibilities would likely slow them down to a crawl
And the code would be incredibly more complex for such little gain

The only chance of a swap ever occurring is if IOTA implements better smart contracts than ethereum
This is highly unlikely as ethereum has a few years of a successful smart contract platform development already
