Because it's essentially an inbred hugbox making it easy to control people.

The only people joinning specific slacks are people who already involved and/or like a project. So no random people will join slack channels who might disagree with the project or call out a bullshit - like it is the case with an open forum like this.

No, all the people in slacks are basically continously jerk each other off agreeing with each other so much because they're only there as they already like the project/coin/ICO to begin with.

And if someone dares to disagree with them, they get put out or piled upon.

And then there are phising attempts, spoofing scams, and whatever else is there.

Not your keys, not your coins!

I also ask this question. Why not just use a telegram? It is easier and much more convenient.

Slack is a bad alternative to IRC. IRC isn't user friendly though, so I think that it's better in some regards. IRC can expose user addresses and have them open to hacking, which isn't very good. Let alone that simply registering had age old documentation. Slack is up to modern standards but still has some addressed vulnerabilities.

Now everyone slowly realizes the best. I could see more new altcoins totally marketing through telegram which has a real security system in place from end to end. Telegram is more featured with unique security system. I hope, everyone will soon slowly concentrate more on telegram.

Yeah it is definitely a big problem. I am sick and  tired of getting scam mails sent by so called hackers. This app doesn't help us at all. It seems telegram will be a better option soon...

Mostly for convenience, it's easy to setup. The biggest issues with it is their shitty slackbot you can't disable, the scalability when you have a lot of users, and their login process which is totally dumb. As stated more and more are switching to Telegram or even Discord.

We are using Slack for our project because its a handy tool to organize and stay in touch with followers of the project or people involved. It became some kind of standard. There are security issues I agree but yet as you all know, that´s the internet.. there is no secure platform!

Telegram is an alternative, but I personally do not know about there security efforts. By Slack at least I know what kind of vulnerabilities are present.

I think they use it because it is very user friendly and easy to get messages out to a large amount of people, also it is a free service. But a lot them now use telegram or both.

What everyone is saying just about sums it up. Slack and Telegram is to what Myspace is to Facebook. I've always thought slack was slacking to creating a user friendly chat system (... I'm not funny....). Slack = Give E-mail > Go through a pointless tutorial , Telegram > just join the group.
Not to mention the bug with slack and e-mail phishers.

The feature in slack is pretty good. For example, the ability to create a few channels for different purposes. But the scam part is getting out of hand. If slack can resolve this problem, I am glad to use it.

I dont understand why they use Slack as well. I use Telegram, I prefer Telegram and I am glad that most of the community directing to Telegram, too. As you said, Slack is full of scams and untrusted people, Telegram is 10000% better option !

Yes Dear,
You are absolutely right dear. i support your topic. now slack is a bad sign. because hacker used it. i think it's a very risk to our privacy. the hacker always send mail and sms in our address. it's a very bad impact for us.
So we need a quick solution.

Discord seems to be current best alternative to avoid scam element. Enigma quickly moved over to it after ICO.

I actually dislike slack. I dont think its freindly anf initially found it confusing that i had to register my mail for every group or something.

I enjoy telegram and starting to like discord (seeing the value in how powerful the app is). Bots on both apps are amazing with what the things you can program them to do.

But is there a corrolation to scam and the use of slack? Ie is ever coin that uses slack considered a scam or possible scam?

Ty for that interesting perspective.

So forum that is open to all such as Bitcointalk is superior? But wouldn’t a decentralized forum on a blockchain be even more superior, because it would be impossible to censor dissension (with moderated threads or derelict mods who allow so many duplicate threads that nobody can find any of the past discussions).

Seems we need a Slack on a decentralized ledger? That way nothing can be spoofed nor censored nor hidden (unless they use group encryption).

Slack is like the wild west with scams and phishing attemps

If ETH forked each time I got a push notification stating as much there would be 1000 different chains

There are imposters everywhere

Why do alt's and ICO's continue to use it ?

There are many people who started to uninstall slack also. Majority are now leaving slack. Actually many projects are already abandoning slack because of all these phishing attempts. Slack phishing has already victimized a lot of innocent individuals over slack.

I dislike slack as well. It's irritating and hopefully projects start to move away from it.
