Slack is like the wild west with scams and phishing attemps

If ETH forked each time I got a push notification stating as much there would be 1000 different chains

There are imposters everywhere

Why do alt's and ICO's continue to use it ?

I am uninstalling the app
I think with many social media discussions used by Alt or ICO company can create a wider network one of them is slack. It does not matter if they use the app because maybe many of them just prefer to use slack app. Maybe some of you who use this application get notification email every day several times but you can disable it.

Slack has awesome features like creating multiple channels and workspace. The interaction withing the community is second to none. Unfortunately it is not as secure as Telegram.

Re: Why do alt's use Slack ?

Because it's essentially an inbred hugbox making it easy to control people.

The only people joinning specific slacks are people who already involved and/or like a project. So no random people will join slack channels who might disagree with the project or call out a bullshit - like it is the case with an open forum like this.

No, all the people in slacks are basically continously jerk each other off agreeing with each other so much because they're only there as they already like the project/coin/ICO to begin with.

And if someone dares to disagree with them, they get put out or piled upon.

And then there are phising attempts, spoofing scams, and whatever else is there.

Ty for that interesting perspective.

So forum that is open to all such as Bitcointalk is superior? But wouldn’t a decentralized forum on a blockchain be even more superior, because it would be impossible to censor dissension (with moderated threads or derelict mods who allow so many duplicate threads that nobody can find any of the past discussions).

Seems we need a Slack on a decentralized ledger? That way nothing can be spoofed nor censored nor hidden (unless they use group encryption).

Yes, but sites like this are very hit and miss. Most people either love or hate them with few in between.

Not your keys, not your coins!

I am receiving tons of scam from slackbot using this App. Actually Slack is really good, I mean the interface, communication, how they setup etc. However, this scam bot is really annoying. I am not sure how slackbot works, but can anybody manipulate the slackbot? Anyone from the group? Because what I thought first, slackbot is can only be controlled by slack group admin and the slack team itself.

Slack is better than most of these social media because it allows for better interaction between the team and the community and also allow for censorship, FUD can esily be spread on BCT, Facebook, Twitter etc

I think slack is better for quick conversations than reddit. For ex. you can create different channels for other conversations and can switch between them quickly.

I dislike slack as well. It's irritating and hopefully projects start to move away from it.
The same thing happens with some people related to slack.
very concerned slack be the source of people who will steal your coins by way of fishing.

I am also have same question. Alot altcoin or that are still in ICO stage using Slack as a service. And in my opinion, it's less effective for marketing.

Most Altcoins that released a project had some sort of customer support through slack. People just didn't want to move to another chatting program.

Because Slack is easier to lure potential investors (maybe), which's why most alt ICO's make Slack as part of its campaign. Personally, i don't like to chat using Slack.

Back on previous month there are lots of users who have been hacked because they are able to get victimized by phishing links which mainly they target out mew users. For now I do see some ICO do tend to make use slack but already on less numbers compared in the pas. They are using up telegram as of this date which is good for both developer and on its investors the same time.
