There is already a seed node coded in the client.  but if you wanted more connections with other peers, you can add them.  That's if some reason you cannot sync the blockchain when you open the wallet.

leave your wallet open, and don't spend your coins

you can also reserve a certain amount under "settings > options" in your wallet GUI

Stake mean stacking.
Which mean you will get an interest by holding it.and you can not spend it if you want to stake it.
Before staking,you need to have a mature coin in your wallet.
Your coin will be matured if you stack it and open it for a day or around that time.
You will get 10% annually from your stake.
