Here it is a FEE FREE Litecoin lottery. Open to all members. I am keeping the entry fee low to keep the risk for participants as low as possible. I have a solid trading reputation on the forums and although it is always a wise decision to be cautious in the world of Crypto Currency, I will do my best to make this as fair and smooth as possible.

I have setup a payment address specifically for this lottery. A transaction log will be available at http://ltc.block-explorer.com/ once the first entry has been received. Since it is my first lottery and I dont know how much interest it will bring I will be doing this for free. I will not enter myself and the winner will receive all of the funds except the 1 transaction fee if required.

I am doing this for free to make sure it runs smoothly and gain a reputation to do future events. My hopes are to make this a weekly lottery and charge only a small fee. I will be gathering feedback as to an acceptable fee for this service. I may move future events to another forum as the alt section is very cluttered and hopefully have it pinned.

All entries will receive a ticket number. Tickets will be assigned in the order they are recieved on the thread. If payment is not received within 6 hours your ticket number and entry may be forfeited. Ticket info will be stored on a google spreadsheet to be viewed here.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AspkwGkOA-kkdDY2ZGQ2WWJuOE1sZElTaUlUSndIUnc&output=html

The winning number will be decided as follows. This is provably fair there is no way for anyone to cheat Smiley

1. The winning number will be decided based on the first Bitcoin Block mined starting 1 hour after the lotto's end.

2. The first 4 hex characters after the zero's will be converted into decimal form. This number will determine this winner.

EXAMPLE:

Say there are 15 participants. There would be 15 tickets.

Say the first block mined 1 hour after the auction was #239439 http://blockchain.info/block-index/388940/0000000000000127ac8b04e1a8aead28c4d2e069f89604ac00c300227921c3fd

With a hash of 0000000000000127ac8b04e1a8aead28c4d2e069f89604ac00c300227921c3fd

127a would be converted into decimal here http://www.hexdictionary.com/hex/127a/

127a = 4370

4370 / 15 = 291.33

15 x .33 = 5

Winning ticket # would be 5

In order to enter please send Your payments to LN8VZEvGE62wpy7vCzP8UEFvmJKnXpxXxz. Reply to the main thread with your Litecoin address and transaction ID if available. I will update the thread and spreadsheet as often as possible.

Up to 3 entries are allowed per member

Entries will be closed on Tuesday 6/4/2013 at 10:00 Pm CST or 3:00am Default forum time

Any entries received after this time will be refunded minus any transaction fees and will not receive a ticket #.

The main thread is in the newbie section to make it open to all members. Please post your entry there. If an entry is posted here it will be cross posted to the newbie section and assigned a ticket number based on the order it gets on that thread, not this one.

In ordered to make this a shameless bump, The first person to paste their LTC address in the main giveaway will receive a free entry! This will also be posted in the main thread so don't let them beat you too it Wink

If no entries are received by the end of the lottery you will still receive .5LTC

Claimed by iAndroid Ticket #1 Paid for by me Good Luck!

Ledger now shows .5LTC total for the lottery. Payout may not be as big as the real lottery but you certainly have much better odds!

Address is updated so the transaction log is fresh. Wallet will remain in cold storage until the lottery's end
Ticket # 2 sold to yeltz

The more entries the more LTC you have a chance at winning! Thread will be updated quickly for the rest of the night Smiley

I am open to doing different alts but I figured everyone probably has a wallet with .5 LTC laying around as it has been around the longest. Maybe I will do a poll for my next one to choose the currency. I could do a different currency every week and the rollover would just be converted via cryptsy. I seriously thought litecoin would be the best bet to get a good prize going Sad

There are still almost 3 days left so we will have to wait and see what the final prize the winner will receive is.

I like the idea of alternating currencies. Or you could take it a step further and allow the winner to choose the next currency (not so sure about that, but figured it'd help give a bit of extra benefit).

That's a wonderful Idea. I could put a list of options for the winner to choose from in the entry details. The winner gets to pick from the list. ( Dont want anyone choosing Tulips or something Smiley )

I may use this in my next one

EDIT:

I have update the way in which to winner will be chosen. This should eliminate any doubt as to the fairness of the lotto. Everyone will be able to check for themselves and will not have to wait for an announcement of the winner. This will work well if I happen to not be at my pc right on time to announce the winner.

Good Luck Everyone !

Just read through the method of picking the winner. Looks great! I was actually coming here to recommend somehow implementing the blocks into it somehow since they are a provably fair way of randomizing numbers.

Thanks! Another member had mentioned it in on another lottery thread. It works out so well . I tweaked his original Idea slightly to make it easier to understand so everyone will be able to verify the winner : )

I was a bit confused about the multiplying by .33 part though. You could just take the int val (from the first characters of the block) and take the remainder (ex. if there are 13 people and the int was 193, you would do 193 % 13).

Of course if you're automating this in some way either method works, this one's just faster.

That is just the way I had worked it out. My thought was this. Say 13 entries and the int was 435. Divide 435 by 13 and the remainder is your winner. A whole number would be #13
