I was looking around newegg and amazon for a gaming computer I could use not only for gaming, but also for GPU mining alt coins.

what are some good computers that you guys would highly suggest for ~700 or less?

Why do you want to make a gaming computer with such a low budget?

You won't find anything good for mining at that price.

If you are willing to custom build one.... you might be able to get a 400 mhash computer for that price. However, if you were to buy prebuilt then it would cost way more. This is considering that you are using a 7850 BTW.

I'd rather spend 2k on making one, I just need a simple one that can run decently.

If you were only using it for mining you could just spend half or more on the video cards. But you want to use it for gaming so spend that half on a dual or quad core cpu,memory,mb and the other on 1 or 2 AMD gpus. The other parts youll have to decide for yourself. It wont be easy on that budget.

A pre-built computer capable of mining and gaming decently? I'd say that's not possible. You'll get PCs that are able to run most current games at medium settings but it won't be viable for mining.

I used my two years old gaming rig for mining until I realised that after subtracting the electricity cost that PC makes me less money when mining 24/7 than solving some tasks and clicking some ads for an hour or two a day gets me.

You're better off keeping one PC for gaming and another for mining; if you plan on using the same PC for both, you're not going to enjoy that video card for very long   Plus, you have to decide if you wanna mine or if you wanna play video games, and that's always a bummer.  But anyway, the gaming PC I have right now cost about 1k, and with the accessories (monitor and stuff), cost around 1.4k.  I have no idea if there's any way you can get a good gaming PC for 700, but you'll likely have to build one if that's the case.

Did you have an updated video card?

Nope used the two 5750s that were in it. They aren't the most power effective nor the best cards for mining but are decent for gaming still. Updating the video cards is planned for the release of Star Citizen.

By overclocking I squeezed about 335 MH/s out of them. That would make me about 0.013 BTC per 24 hours on BTCGuild. 90% of that would be used up by the power cost for having the PC running 24 hours. Using task sites I can easily make 0.02 BTC in two hours with no power cost attached to it at all. Hence I decided to stop mining and use the PC for gaming again and earn some BTC by visiting those sites daily.

I'm not quite sure if know the answer, but given how you're a hero member....

If I get a desktop for gaming and whatever, and I have this laptop, if I buy an asic miner or something, could I hook it up with my laptop and it wouldn't make a difference if I used my laptop or my pc?

The ASIC miner is doing all the hard work, so it shouldn't matter what kind of computer you use with it.  I've never had one before so you'd have to look into how an ASIC is hooked up, but, with my general understanding of computers, I'd say that it could be hooked up to anything which supports its connection without any detrimental effect on the computer it's being paired with.

But aside from that, getting your hands on an ASIC is even harder, and likely much more expensive than having a separate mining and gaming rig.

you can get 630k for that price hx 750 psu used m board 6gb ram 1090t cpu and a 7950 gpu and a cheep hdd case is optinal dvd drive is optinal ( i dont have any dvd drives in my pcs just conect 1 up if i reload windows

Probably won't get anything great for today's games. Probably 7850 card with a smaller PSU. Something in AMD for the processor.
