Seems like nothing much is happening. The volume is way, way down on MtGox. Yesterday only 6,000 coins traded. The market is practically in a coma. What's needed to get the wheels turning again?

+1. More and more sales are done privately, or simply traded with goods.

is there a good site that shows volume / trades / graphs of all bitcoin exchanges? I remember seeing one long ago but forgot what it was =P
Also, yea we need bitcoin to be quiet in volatility but... in terms of volume, it would be nice to have some massive volume w/ not much volatility - would reflect a massive demand in exchanging it - thus more widespread adoption.

You can't gauge the use of dollars by looking at Forex. As bitcoins are used in private transfers and goods purchase activity should be visible on the blockchain.

If you're idle bitcoin is idle. Do your part to "start the wheel".

Did you mean "Bitcoin trading became boring"?
Because Bitcoin is what happens outside of exchanges, not with the IOUs inside them!

People that used Liberty Reserve and switched to bitcoin are for the most part not using Mt Gox. That is anyone involved in black market activities

Historically boring times are the best times to be dollar cost averaging in.

I used to consistently pour my paychecks into bitcoin via MtGox every two weeks. I have yet to decide on my next exchange. I am sure many others have moved to other exchanges.
I am focussing on paying down a few credit cards while I figure out the best place to exchange my money.

Damn! Entire paychecks? Now that's what I call "having faith in bitcoin". I only purchase a single coin each paycheck, and save the rest, but if the paycheck is large enough I'll purchase two.
