Can anybody name all the innovations that have been designed in cryptocurrencies since the creation of Bitcoin? I understand PPC has come up with the proof-of-stake system. Are there any other major innovations?

So far, I feel like all the other copies of Bitcoin (apart from Namecoin and PPC) don't really bring anyting new to the table.

litcoin seems to be the only other real crypto currency that you can actually buy things with.

http://uselitecoin.com/ speaks for itself as far as how accepted litecoin is!

other than bitcoin there are not many other alt-coins that have the same support / acceptance.

Be aware of Ripple too. Ignore their own description of what they do and look at this more balanced review:

Seems it might turn out to be complimentary to BC.
