Is it more wise to invest in Bitcoin or in Ethereum for the next 5 years? What do you think an why?
I think you should study it first before asking. then you can compare every opinion that people say. I think personally. bitcoin and eth always have more value than other allcoin. and both are worth to be invested |

Nicely said! Ethereum is growing community, before we speculated about bitcoin on 1000 dollars and now bitcoin is over 6000 dollars, now we can expect ethereum to go to 1000 dollars. I'm not some big fan of ethereum but look what is happening now, icos are having their year, everyday new ico appears and many use ethereum smart contracts. They are tied for ethereum, and that will boost ethereum progress, also this icos are using ethereum wallets, you need gas for sending them, all that tells me that ethereum price will grow a lot in the future. |

I hold 15% eth and I am currently struggling given the lack of answers on one topic: how many tokens will there be available?
It seems they have this kind of mentality where price does not really matter, which is one problem I have (if you invest and lose 70% because of bad decisions from their side, at least the community is quite upfront about the fact that they dont care).
So they say it is going to be more or less 100Mln coins available. They always state "roughly" because they are not really sure. They also expect "roughly" a 3% annual growth (let's say, 3 mln token every year) because some coins will get dumped (3 mln a year of dumped coins seems a bit too much to me...).
I am really scared in 10 years there will be as many eths as ripples... Pity because I really like the project
On the other hand PoS might improve the thing if you believe so, but I am starting to doubt PoS will be as profitable as they say:
- they either create more money and increase inflation for more than 3% to pay people
- PoS will be paid mainly on transactions, which divided by everybody (because having no need for a rig means almost everybody will try to gain from PoS and you won't be even able to repay for the inflation)
Just my thought as a post some time ago made me dig deeper into this... But maybe they will get hold of the economics, so if you are willing to bet on it...

For me the answer is clear. Bitcoin is more profitable. This year bitcoin has shown growth rates 6 times. What is the coin of all available can boast such a result? New coins can grow as fast but there is a high risk that they will be Scam. Bitcoin will continue to remain the leader of the cryptocurrency.

I also am in a dilemma, as bitcoin block halving is coming in year 2019 so the prices are definitely gonna spike after that, but in ethereum the news of new software update is also irresistible as the network will shift to pos from pow pos hybrid. |

Yes sure. Bitcoin is the king and heart of cryptocurrency as of now. Every coin depends on it. And the value of it was so high. 5 years actually is a long time to run. Many things will happen, but since bitcoin now has a good reputation. I think it also has a potential to stay and improve in the digital currency so its better to invest now . As well as the ethereum. I think it also has a good future in the market. |

It's not just about what's profitable. If we look at how much growth Ethereum went through in the recent times, it's safe to say that it's actually Ethereum that has been more profitable. Important is that Bitcoin has a massive long term growth potential, while Ethereum is nothing more than a shitcoin that thrives on ICO's to obtain value. It's not for nothing that Ethereum is only losing value -> governments are cracking down on ICO's, which is only going to be worse. In other words, Ethereum's purpose/market is slowly but surely shrinking, where this coin will definitely end up like Dogecoin -> greatly appreciated and hyped initially, where after that stage the majority doesn't seem to care about it anymore. |

Stay far away from Ethereum. It's long term business model makes zero sense. And it's short term reason to exist apparently is to buy into ICOs, which 99.99% will be found to be scams and disappear.
Buy Bitcoin with two fists! The Bitcoin network IS the killer app!

Bitcoin will always give you higher profits but its always good to diversify your investments at different places to minimize the risk in future and ethereum is the best altcoin that has great value and if you invest money in it then it will not disappoint you in future.

I think bitcoin would be the better choice, although, many have said through their replies that it has seen its best price rise, but still, you have to consider that amongst all the digital currencies, it has been the most aggressive in terms of increase in value, and it is the one that virtually introduced e-currencies in the global market today. Although ethereum should also not be overlooked, just like how bitcoin started, its gaining popularity, and thus, through it, it's also gaining value.

It is simple to decide, OP.
Download both bitcoin-QT and Mist.
Try to synch both blockchains in your own computer.
The one which will synchronize after one week is the right answer.

both were good and recomended if your into long term investing but ill vouch bitcoin in terms of profitability because its obvious that bitcoins value is way too much high compared to etherium and actually in my case i put all 100% of my funds in bitcoin because i believe that i can earn much more to it rather than spreading my funds to some coins/altcoins that it would take months or years for their value to pump. |

Invest in both. ETH for shortterm investments. By sticking to our ultimate goal of BTC. Because, very unfortunate at all considering current eth value very cheap which of course potentially shiny in future.

Since ethereum in most cases depends on Bitcoin market value fluctuations to react I will say you should invest in both Bitcoin and ethereum at the same time so that you will benefit from what ever happen positively to Bitcoin and ethereum. You can use the percentage of 50% each of your capital for both Bitcoin and ethereum. |

Etherium is indeed a good investment but your are referring to 5 long years and I think Bitcoin will be a better investment than Etherium with that length of time. Etherium is known for short term investment . Bitcoin's value will increase much within 5 years as we can see as of this moment where it is already expensive. The profit will also be huge if the money to invest will be average or above. |

Op I would have second that you invest in ethereum for you to get high return on your investment in the next 5 years but since you mentioned "wise" decision I will say it will be rational for you to in both Bitcoin and ethereum. No doubt, that the growth of Ethereum is much more as compared to Bitcoin over the recent months, but if you consider over a time span of 5 Years; then I will recommend investing in Bitcoin because every day its popularity is increasing and more and more governments and issuing regulations in favor of Bitcoin making an increase in its value everyday. Over the coming 5 years, Bitcoin can have greater progress and will be prove to be a better investment than any other commodity. But if you are in a dilemma about your investment between ETH and BTC then you can invest 30% in ETH and 70% in BTC just to be on safer side, as crypto in unexpected currency. |

The profit will also be huge if the money to invest will be average or above. Although Etheirum is good imvestment. but i will never like to invest my assets in Etherium for 5 years. To me i personally can trust on bitcoin for next five years and cannot trust on any other currency. In fact bitcoin is the only currency which have more potential and for which we can believe for next 5 or even for next 10 years. Hopefully bitcoin after 5 years bitcoin will have more high value as compaer to Etheirium and any other crypto currency. |

I think that more wise is to invest in Bitcoin. Simply because Bitcoin is stronger and more people support it, therefor we can say that it will last longer (not 100% certainty). Ethereum is good coin too, but I think that on long terms Bicoin is better. Bitcoin is still growing, and fast. In future it could become worlds currency. |
