Create wallet and account for email address

We would like to create wallets via API for our clients.
We do not want to store the private keys of the wallet, we want this to be done by a reputable third party. For example we would like to create a blockchain.info wallet for email abc@def.com without us storing anything sensitive about this wallet. Basically all we need is to get back from API the wallet address just created for user: abc@def.com. And then, abc@def.com could go to blockchain.info (or any other provider) and use the wallet directly on their website or through their mobile apps.

Can this be done via blockchain.info API? If not via blockchain.info, what other wallet services you recommend to achieve this?

As most of our users are new to crypto currencies, we would like to make them easy to create their first wallet on our website (without having to send them to blockchain.info, create an account there and then come back to us with their public wallet address).

If Blockchain.info API allow creating wallets then yes, they should store everything on their servers, after all an API is a middleman between the client (you) and servers (them). I would still suggest going with Blocktrail because they are always UP, you can always request API keys and they have higher limits: https://www.blocktrail.com/api/docs

Check https://coinb.in/ they are running on open source software which you can use in your project than use your own node to make payments.
They allow users to create account tied with their email address and password of their choice, you can check them yourself to find whether their script is suitable for you or not.

Looks like you are  planning to give a  web service the concept is just like a bank someone register to your website can make own bitcoin wallet but you are using other service like blockchain..
Honestly if you are serious about this project you must need a security expert and experienced programmer to stores user's bitcoin Because there is a chances that your site can be hack repeatedly.. s
So if you are planning to start a service like what you are planning better to hire experienced programmer and security experts because your  website can not be trusting by people without guaranteed safe of their bitcoin wallet..

Please do not rely on blockchain.info API if you are starting your own wallet service ? You expect people to take your seriously when you guys don't even have your own API's and you rely on  a similar service ? Anyhow,blockchain.info doesn't allow that.

Write your own API.

Why cant you just ask them to not use online wallets and create something like electrum instead ? It's not safe to store your coins on an online wallet anyway.
